A few hours ago I thought "whatever happened to that action/horror game being made by the Silent Hill 1 and Siren creator Keiichiro Toyama?" (He also made Gravity Rush, but I never played it.) I look it up, and apparently it's coming out in 4 days (on the 8th)?

Is there a single bit of hype for this thing? I love Toyama's work, but I have to admit this looks pretty underwhelming.

The thumbnail itself tells me in very clear words that I am not anywhere close to the target audience - said target audience probably doesn't even exist

i have been following this game, it looks a bit underwhelming. but after seeing the woke garbage dragon age troonguard. i think this game will be great, i just hope it will have disc release then i will pick it up.

I'm interested in it still. I expect it to be janky because it looks janky but Siren was also pretty janky and I loved that game. It's action-horror and looks like it was influenced a lot by the Parasyte manga so that's cool. You also seem to be able to play as the monster and I tend to scoop up games like that even if they are so-so because aren't very many titles like that.

Oh yeah, I only discovered this game because by mere coincidence I decided to search what the fuck happened with Toyama after forbidden siren. The name itself doesn't convince me that much, I did play the first forbidden siren and the gravity rush duology, I liked both, even if siren was a lil janky at times, I've yet to play the remake for the ps3, eternal exclusive along with mgs4, no idea if they were even referenced in the astro bot game(they gave devil dice a cameo, so the chances are non-zero at least)
Anyways, seeing from a gameplay video that just got released yesterday, it looks "interesting" enough, the siren gimmick of seeing from the eyes of other enemies got reworked into changing characters on the fly like driver, or geist. The gameplay is too action-focused for a survival horror, no resident evil 6 levels but I don't think it'll scare me that much. I'll still buy it, if I manage to encounter a physical copy, I bet tree fiddy it's gonna become another scalper material in the near future

So based on what a few console players who have the game are saying, it's an interesting game and will at least have a cult following. They don't expect game reviewers to give it high praise, but if I recall, reviewers didn't think much of Silent Hill 1 when it came out, either, and they definitely didn't like Siren.

I'm going to get this game anyway since the mechanics look interesting and I like a lot of oddball games.

I've been keeping an eye on this since it was announced because I love SH and Siren, but it never really grabbed me to the point that I'm excited about it. The first gameplay footage kind of turned me off honestly. I'm torn between whether I want to actually play it or just watch a playthrough.

Been playing this for the past few days. I expected jank, but it's actually fairly polished, at least compared to what I expected. I've only noticed one glitch so far, and I've got a good few hours into it.

I think the biggest demerit against it is unclear marketing. While the story has horror themes, this is decidedly an action game, not a horror game. It doesn't take long before the monsters start running from you. Second is enemy variety, which is a shame because I enjoy the core concept of the combat system.

I've also heard the story fumbles the ending. I've not finished it yet, but I'm far enough along that I think I see where it's going and it wouldn't surprise me if the ending isn't satisfying. Overall, not one of the greats, but it's trying something different and I think it'll be a sleeper hit. I'll definitely keep my eye on Bokeh Studios' next project.

The initial gameplay trailers were pretty rough looking. The newer trailers from a month or two ago are a better representation of the final thing, though; it plays a bit better than it looks, but not so much that you can't tell whether you'd enjoy it. Trust your gut on this one. I'm enjoying it, but I can see where it'd turn people off of playing it. Especially if you're expecting more of an SH or Siren style horror title going in.

I'm a little over two hours in and I'm enjoying it so far. I'm not entirely sure why people think it's a survival horror game like Silent Hill or Siren, because all the footage I saw of it suggested action/horror.

The mechanics are pretty wild and I'm still not used to them yet. Learning to hop from body to body and triggering their special skills quickly all while dodging attacks from the monsters and trying to keep people alive can be overwhelming, and it's really like nothing I've played before. I don't know if I'd call it janky since commands seem responsive enough (unlike Siren's melee combat), but it does feel complicated if you are dealing with multiple enemies.

It carries some notes from Siren such as instances of sightjacking, and the mission selection screen where you play with multiple characters also reminds me of that game. Unlike Siren, it doesn't appear to be stealth-focused from what I can tell so far.

Reviews are probably not going to help you because the scores seem to be varying wildly, but perhaps watching some gameplay footage will.

About 5 hours in. It's fun enough, but here are some gripes keeping me from enjoying it too much: The combat is code vein with for honor's parrying stapled on. There are two lock on buttons for some fucking reason, and only one of them does anything. The setting, while atmospheric, is really fucking samey. Everywhere looks the same as everywhere else, rendering sightjacking completely useless. The story starts out interesting, but quickly devolves into a knock off Tokyo ghoul.

Other than all that, it's fun. Ish. You can do some wacky stuff with the body jacking, and the different rarity powersets are interesting. Was surprised when the hobo started to Dempsey roll. Was a little off put when I recruited an overweight Muslim woman in a hijab, but I've just been letting her die so far so whatever.
