Is anyone promoting the idea that picking up a certain hobby will "suddenly get you laid"? I think the point is that hobbies can provide a good way to meet and socialize with people, and to show off your skills. I also think people come off best when they're engaged in something they're enthusiastic about. (This can go for video games as much as other hobbies, in my opinion, if you live somewhere where gamer culture is active.) Point is, being active, competent, and happy about what you're doing all helps improve a person's attractiveness.

Of course, if you go into it displaying an attitude of "OKAY SLUT I KNOW YOU WILL CUCK ME BECAUSE OF MY CROOKED MAXILLA" there's probably literally almost nothing you can do to compensate.
