If you spend a lot of time doing camwork and making money off of usually desperate people, you kind of grow to feel sorry for them. I think it makes sense to interact with the some of the type of people who make up your clientele. Get a better sense of where they come from

Mhh, could be a factor. But I think a lot of the "women are just using us" also comes from confirmation bias. Most of the LS aren't... socially adept enough to say the least to build up positive relations with people, let alone women (counting friendship as relation here). But shitty people who want to use you are not repelled by that, so in the end even if 1% of people is shitty, the loveshys interactions will consist 90% of interactions with shitty people, if that makes sense.

Let's not forget that whole 'hot chicks at nightclubs' thing, if that's the kinda lady they're aiming for they're setting themselves up for disappointment, living on a uni campus with a bunch of horny late teens/early 20's girls told me that they don't go out for a night on the town to be wowed by someone's personality.
Problem is these guys see that and assume that's true for 100% of women 100% of the time.

Oh, absolutely. However, building a romantic relationship is hard and takes a lot of work. It requires being honest with yourself and your partner, and that's difficult to do. Bitching about it is free.

To be honest (and this is coming from my personal experience) BDSM actually has very different standards than most people would think. As a person that knows a bit about that community it's way more accepting than average and if you know a lot about psychology around it then you'd know recent studies show that practitioners have relatively good mental health for what is seen as deviant behavior.
