Rape is a generally a pretty underreported crime and defaulting to blaming the victim for it because of the way they dress, where they happened to walk across a bad neighbourhood, etc. drives up the rate at which those crimes go unreported because the victims don't want to deal with the blame circus that follows if they were anything less conservative than dressed in a niqab while accompanied by a male relative walking through a good neighbourhood during daytime. Leaving your car in a bad neighbourhood is a bad idea, but that doesn't mean that the perpetrator isn't at fault for stealing it or shouldn't face prosecution.

It is kinda reminiscent of walking up to a pothead and saying "Good sir, are you aware that recreational use of cannabis is illegal?"
I'm uncertain of what this event is trying to promote. Raising awareness? We are all aware rape occurs, and is terrible. There is no one in the "rape is good" camp. Okay, well, a few sluthate people, but nobody who's allowed outside without an escort.
This seems like a general excuse to be mad because terrible things happen and can't be prevented 100% of the time.

This is basically a “you deserve Bro Dean” event. We had mega phones, banners, hand-held signs, and t-shirts to match. I personally believe that the whores at slut walk do deserve Rape. They dress like rape, act like rape, invite rape, promote rape, and incite rape.

Now tell me, do these women deserve Rape? Be HOnest.

I believe that God up in heaven up above is laughing, a laugh that is pointed towards the rape victims of slutwalk. He’s laughing at the homos dying of aids, laughing at Muslims killing each other. He’s laughing at all the ungodly fat people dying. They have chosen themselves before a holy God. They have chosen their desires before a God who wanted them. Now a woman who is walking down the street naked, should she be raped?…no! But she is displaying her body as an object for anyone to see. Once a man sees it, he wants it so bad sometimes he thinks consent isn’t necessary. He gets drunk on what his eyes have taken in. As a Christian, I don’t really believe in consent in the traditional way. I have never needed to ask for consent because I’m waiting till marriage as per Hebrews 13:4, Deut. 22, and 1 Cor 6:9. Did I mention not getting consent is fun, because I’m not begging or pleading any women to please give me their bodies.

I’m pleasantly content with God, my life, and waiting for that perfect someone to come into my life. Also, why do I need to ask my wife all the time for sex? It should be understood how things will be taking place. The feminists want to make it seem that they have full control over the relationship through sex or their supposed consent, but the Bible says it’s over mutual consent through marriage.

As a Christian, I’ve never kissed, had sex, gotten drunk, high, suicidal, sexted, or divorced. Now think about how high my expectations may be for the mother of my children. The woman who will have to hold my counsel in her heart. The Proverbs 31 woman is one that all men seek, but few are willing to deny selfish desires in this life for. In middle school I decided to wait to kiss till I was married. Because I want a woman who herself said in her heart, “I love you, and I will prepare for you till we meet and get married.”

There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. What the slutwalk taught me:
People don't like getting raped for any reason. That's a shocker. I guess it's time for me to stop raping people all the time.

What this post taught me:
How some people actually rationalize to themselves that rape can be totally fine or deserved. They're not arguing a case of questionably questionable consent, they're saying I-am-having-sex-with-you-against-your-will raping someone is ok sometimes.

The underlying factors behind these people need attention because this is an alarming mindset behind some people getting raped. Is there any way we can beam the MRA subforum into people's brains?

What the everloving fuck, who thinks like this? I'm sure that your "once we're married I am king of your vagina" attitude is going to net you a fantastic chick in no time, buddy. Is he just being a Westboro Baptist-tier edgelord to fish for lawsuits or is he really that deranged?

Some have suspected Brother Dean to be a master troll, but sadly everything points to him being 500 miles past Last Hope for Sanity.
 
I think this came about after a police officer made comments about how women should avoid dressing like sluts if they don't want to get raped? I think it's less about actually saying "teach rapists not to rape hurr durrr" and more about people's attitude towards rape and blaming the victim for them drinking or wearing certain clothes or flirting when in reality there's very little you can do to deserve rape and blaming someone for being irresponsible isn't going to help them recover, they probably blame themselves and feel ashamed enough on their own.

While they have good intentions they are going about it the wrong way. Wearing provocative clothing doesn't help your cause, it only makes your cause a target of ridicule. I think for the most part there shouldn't be any slut shaming geared towards women. Some men usually 'ho it up' more than women anyway.

So yes, they have some valid points, but they have an equal number of really bad ideas.

It's quite dumb to be honest. All it's going to do is cause more trouble and tension between the sexes and anti-male propaganda. Men aren't the only ones who are capable of rape, women are capable of rape too.

You don't seem to get the point. Social Justice is a totalitarian movement which blames the cishet white male for all that is wrong in the world similarly to how the Nazis blamed the Jews for everything. SJWs must invent the Kyriarchy so that they can have an enemy to fight
 
From reading the thread I'm starting to understand why slutwalkers are ineffective. "Clothes are not a license to rape" is a good message but...

Nonconservative-minded people think: "This is an ostentatious way to say something obvious and get attention for it. It is making our cause look like a circus."

Conservative-minded people think: "You are protesting people catching on fire by rolling around in gasoline and protesting combustion. You're asking the inevitable to not happen."

Ignoring, of course, that the second argument implies that people should only be expected to uphold the self control of a wolf in a Tex Avery cartoon.

It was mentioned earlier in the thread, and I don't think I've heard a better analogy for all this, that this is like parking your car in a bad area of town. It's a bad idea but the guy who breaks into your car is to blame for there being a crime in the first place. These Jalopnik, shiny-rimmed temptresses shouldn't have rolled into the bad side of town with their underlights on. For shame.
 
slutwalk is such a stupid idea.

I agree with that a woman doesn't deserve to be raped if she is dressed more immodestly, but the fact remains that appearance does count. Wear dirty/messy clothing, people will think you're a slob. Wearing a sharp business suit creates a more positive impression. And so on and so forth. When you dress like a slut, you can't blame others for having 'dirty' thoughts about you or thinking you're someone with loose morals.
 
What I think would be hilarious is if this kind of demonstration caught on with any other issue.
Like if to protest criminal convictions for marijuana possession, a bunch of stoners donned their finest hemp cloth hoodies, jammed pot leaves up their asses, and marched down streets street shouting at anyone who doesn't currently look high.
