Don't forget that a lot of people on 4chan's /co/ and /tv/ boards are full of autistic nihilists screaming in their echo chambers and they are still seething about Smiling Friends
I love the fact that theres a subset of gooner nihilists on 4Chan that are so fucking triggered by Smiling Friends. Triggered them so badly that they wrote a schizophrenic rant about how its NeoPuritan propaganda.

All because Zach thinks its unhealthy to be at the point in your life where you're touching yourself to shit porn to get off.

I love how much Smiling Friends showcases a wide variety of artists and styles. It's like a celebration of animation, which makes it stand out on [Adult Swim]. It's not the sort of show I'd expect to be aired on [AS] because it's not the latest season of Rick & Morty, a lame cartoon, maybe featuring some rapper, that lasts only eight or nine episodes, or another mediocre FLCL follow-up nobody asked for, in [Adult Swim]'s deciding they don't want to court or appeal to the "people who actually like cartoons" demographic.

Amazing how, even with a shoestring budget, an old fashioned funny cartoon driven by actual artists with skill and a unique point of view could take off. It stands out in a field dominated by shows made by people who are seemingly convinced that comedians and LA hack writers who got their foot in the door thanks to nepotism are the key to a good cartoon.
