For my ranking of this season I'd say:

1. Erm, the Boss Finds Love?
2. A Allan Adventure
3. Pim Finally Turns Green
4. Mr. President
5. The Magical Red Jewel (aka Tyler Gets Fired)
6. Gwimbly: Definitive Remastered Enhanced Extended Edition DX 4K (Anniversary Director’s Cut)
7. Brother's Egg
8. Charlie, Pim, and Bill vs the Alien

Fucking rocks that the guys I used to watch on newgrounds when I was a wee homunculus have a successful and enjoyable show finally. I love throwing on both seasons when I want to reach my inner manchild. Happy to see the community isnt awful like Rick and Morty.

President Jimble legitimately disgusts me.

I wonder if that's like a custom self-made thing or she got it published somehow.

On other news, this fucking trannycock-sucking faggot made a Smiling Friends tierlist.

Of course the Mr President episode is his choice for worst, and of course he snidely weasels around Doug's cameo (who he hates because his side is supposed to hate him), and of course he pays lip service to "cancel culture criticism is bad" regarding Mr Frog, this fucking faggot.

That said, he does say no episode is bad, just some are less good than others. And claims his issues with the President episode are mostly about the guy being gross and unlikeable, but I hold firm that anyone who doesn't like that episode is upset that they think they made fun of their guy, or that they didn't make fun of the other guy enough, or both; and regarding Mr Frog, he excused the cancel culture thing because of how over the top Frog's crimes were, beyond what anyone cancelled in real life would be guilty of, and was instead more bothered about the subplot demonstrating how studios sanitize the "toxic" shit and then the products suck.

Now, putting aside this fucking faggot, I've noticed that, in conversations here and elsewhere and in various tierlists I've seen, there's not much of a consensus. There's no widely agreed best or worst episode, and in fact I've seen people rank nearly every episode at nearly every tier.
I think that speaks of the generally consistent quality of the show, and also the variety of concepts and types of humor and other things it explores, leading to a lot of people having drastically different opinions.

Except I think for Gwimbly. I don't think I've seen anyone consider it bad or rate it low.

I think it's awesome that this show exists in the first place, I feel thoroughly serviced by having all these things I grew up with or am consuming now just be in the show.

But overall I think I like Season 1 more, it was more consistent.
It's been a good season, however for me it was a season of high highs and just a plateau of meh.

It started off with what I now consider to be the best episode of the whole thing with Gwimbly.
I pretty much enjoyed the whole thing and actually laughed out loud at a few parts, every scene with the CEO was vindicating and I even loved all the James scenes.

The episode after that, the President one was also pretty great. Jimble getting sauce on everything was really great and Mr. Frog returning was amazing too. Solid gags all throughout

The Allan episode is strange for me, I watched the previews that were posted on youtube and they basically had all the good parts of the episode in it like the six arm guy and the paperclip tinkerer old guy. The rest of the episode was kind of lolsorandom but the animation was great overall.
The Landlord felt like they tried a bit too hard to make him weird, loud and crazy like the rest of the characters in the show, he had all the generic stuff of a smiling friends character.
He talks weird and mostly screams, he looks very generic, he has this random one joke thats brought back with wanting to smoke weed and play Burnout for the PS2 and then he has a completely out of nowhere hara kiri death.
The character just did not land for me at all.
But this episode did have my favorite gag of the whole show in it "I really hurt my finger doing that paperclip bit" still makes me laugh.

Episode 4 where Mr. Boss gets married is what I would say is another pretty whatever episode, I had this funny thing happen to me where I watched it after waking up in the middle of the night only to fall asleep again.
I did this a few times and got to the Doug Walker cameo and I was just thinking, half asleep and completely delirious "How did they get away with just putting a Nostalgia Critic Episode in the show?"
The Demon girl was also kind of a whatever character.

Now the Brothers episode...the Doctor Insano character has the same problem as the Landlord I feel. He is loud, has one thing and just seems kind of boring. Joel was of course the highlight of the thing and his style just being put in 1:1 is just amazing.
Though weirdly it felt like Pim and Charlie basically accomplished nothing in the episode and maybe that was the joke?
Everything they did failed or would have happened without them more or less.
Doctor Insano would've been successful in his experiment, Joel Haver would've still seen that Goblin get crushed at work.
Overall pretty good still.
But I did adopt the phrase "The world we live in stresses me out dude"

I basically remember nothing about the Alien episode, can't say anything about it.

The Episode where they go to Spam Land was okay too but it could've been a bit longer, this whole B plot of Allan and Charlie looking after Mr. Boss kid was just kind of boring and nothing happened. I would've liked to see more of Spam Land.
The ending was also just a classic deus ex machina but that was probably the joke.

The Finale was okay overall as well, the snowman was genuinely annoying though and there is a lot of self fellating going on?

If I had to rate them i'd probably do it like this off the cuff.

Gwimbly
Mr. President
Allan
Brothers
Finale
Boss gets married
Spam Land
Alien

Basically the episodes after Brothers were just kind of whatever to me, there were a few good gags here and there but I didn't feel like this about Season 1 at all, I liked every episode there.

i thought Schaffrilas' praise of Smiling Friends that "no one dies who doesnt deserve it" is so weird because it's trying to square that the show is good with how it doesnt really fit the mold of what these cartoon reviewers like. They constantly complain about "mean-spiritedness" and such and here's Smiling Friends, a great show that clearly has people gorily die and stuff like that, so they have to invent some reason to like it

The idea is just objectively not true. Shmormu dies, there's a guy who gets his head stomped in in Shrimp episode, the goblin dies in Brother's Egg, Charlie's grandma goes to hell for saying "damn", the old man dies and goes to hell in Allan's Episode. some of these people are actually plot-important too

Yeah. The Frowning Friends change their ways but immediately die, Jimble gets a race genocided (maybe they deserved it tho), the Salty mascots go and kill at least one guy, Mr Frog Green Goblin Grenades a bunch of innocents, a plane full of people crashes in Brazil, and so on.

There's a ton of throwaway violent death jokes, so it seems like he's just trying to find a moral defense for a show that he likes but he can tell doesn't align with, or at least that doesn't do the minimum requisite genuflecting for, his political lines.
But then, no political side has taken a stand against the show, beyond the aforementioned "are they making fun of my candidate?" bit.

"I am all for shows stepping away from blatantly hateful and offensive humor, but a little edge for the sense of comedy can be a good thing in a lot of cases"

He is literally saying nothing here. How is the Puerto Rican bit at the end of the Frowning Friends episode not an offensive joke? Or Zach doing a stereotypical latino voice with DJ Spit? He justifies it by saying the characters get comeuppance in the end, but when did that ever matter to these people? What a moron. Can't just admit that offensive humor is completely fine and all it needs to be is funny because he is chained to the opinions of a bunch of idiots online. I fully expect him to turn on the show once Twitter arbitrarily decides an episode did something "problematic".

I think they got away with the Puerto Rican bit because Lyle (Half-Puerto Rican) said the line but I don't understand how they can justify Dj Spit. There are compilations of Zach saying different slurs, including the hard r, but I still see the gayest people pushing their Smiling Friends fanart. It really does prove that they will overlook their own stated principles if they like a person.

Edit: For the record I think Zach is a good boy and dindu nuffin so nu-uh
