They really don't do shit for their employees. I remember the voice of Frylock was intermittently homeless for a while, Andy Merrill is an Amazon delivery driver nowadays. If you're not Dan "Sexual Harassment Complaint" Harmon, they're not going to lift a finger for you.

The guy who voices Frylock lost his house in a tornado and Adult Swim refused to pay him years worth of royalties that they owed him which was especially shitty since in addition to losing his home he was already battling cancer.
Luckily for him ATHF fans rallied around him and set up a Godundme in addition to buying merch and cameos.

mass media was still mostly a thing back then. people were having Walking Dead and GOT watch parties too. If Smiling friends came out in the mid-2010s it would be just as big. For a new ip that came out in the last 3 years its fucking huge, the amount of content that is from decade old ips is depressing and says something about cultural stagnation. of all the shows that have come out after the obama years, Smiling friends is easily the best one.

It's not about him being "left-leaning". It's about him being a sperg who can't reign in his political beliefs long enough to be thankful to his fans. It's the same kind of prickish attitude that leads to people who hear someone say "Merry Christmas" and respond with "um, I think you mean Happy Holiday".
