There's a new Blue Since 2012 video:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=mssHhG-vGG8Apparently the Blue Guy paid Charlie and Pim $20 to ignore Dolly. I'm enjoying the Smiling Friends Expanded Universe quite a bit, as autistic a thing as it is. I can see Zach and Michael giving one of these fan animators a bit part in an actual episode down the line.
That would be a nice thing on Zach and Michael's part, but I think that opens a floodgate.
Then EVERY show is going to have parasocial retards wanting to be in on the show. And many much less talented!
It's like walking into a pet store, you can't just pet the one puppy, you pet one, then all the other cute little fuggers come out of the wood work and if you don't pet them too, you're a monster.
Not a great 1:1 comparison but you get my drift.

Yeah, theres definitely potential for drama there. If nothing else, we would end up "why did x get to collab but not y" complaints.
if it's not a bit entirely done by zack and michael anyway
I find it less likely than I did when it was just TCAG774. Dolly doesn't strike me as the kind of joke they'd make, and the Charlie and Pim lines in Blue's video sounded like (really good) soundalikes to me. I could see both of them being by established animators that run in the same circles as Michael and Zach, though

Of course, that could just be what they want me to think.

I binged S1-3 and its been a long while since I have binged any show whatsoever.

Smiling Friends feels like the anti-Rick and Morty, in the sense that its a show that isnt using its mature rating as an excuse to finally be intensely and needlessly edgy and to say swear words (tho never slurs, ever), while standing on your soap box and drop some redditism. S.F is a show that feels like a "mature" cartoon on the veins of Chowder, Gumball and Flapjack, shows with surrealist style that often has mixed medias thrown in to add to the crazy feeling, added also some spirit from flash animations.

Another thing that helps S.F over a good chunk modern adult cartoons is the fact it has a comparatively unique setup while also NOT using the mature rating to having absolutely unlikable characters. Dont get me wrong, a lot of characters can be rather unpleasant and our four leads are no angels but their worst moments feel more human than contrived, and it never goes overboard with it. And I cant believe Im going to say this but it is refreshing having a character like Pim among the adult cartoon scene, a character that acts like a lite classic spongebob and wants to be positive and spread positivity and you'd think that Charlie would be the Patrick or Squidward of the duo but he is also funny and enjoyable and he even when he isnt the most pleasant, he makes it clear he legit likes Pim and will stand by and for him when push comes to shove.

And its just an overall very funny show, I dare say its an example of "good" millennial writing, in the sense that it clearly shows that the ones behind it watched the classics, both TV and online, and arent afraid of dropping references for those "in the know" to get it but not too much in your face where its distracting to those that dont get it, an example being Chill's cameo, its quick, he does his "Number 15" bit and the plot moves on. The plot doesnt stop and makes it overstay its welcome, its there and boom, over.

That isnt to say that every episode works for me and even the ones that dont, still work for me. There is no "bad" S.F episode for me, just weaker ones. If I had to pick, I'd probably go with Mole Man and Silly Samuel (oddly enough, both S3 episodes) as the former is almost entirely composed of dick jokes, not even funny ones since they dont even bring up the obvious solution for him to wear pants or something (or even make a joke out of it), nvm that the Glep and Alan section just are a torture section for the two of them until the A Plot suddenly decides to crossover. As for the latter, the Silly Samuel sections are just mediocre, not bad but just meh, with the Alan and Mr Boss B plot being the "saving grace" as its actually legit funny (alongside with the Bob Chandler reference that was all over social media for a couple of weeks). Besides those two, I legit enjoyed all episodes, with them all maintaining a good balance between being episodic but also keeping a lite continuity (its almost impossible to not have it in the days of streaming).

Overall, its one of the best shows in modern adult cartoon history, which maybe isnt saying much given the competition but if it got someone like me to get off my ass and actually binge watch anything? That has to mean something.

Edit: iirc, someone properly explained that S.F surprisingly only lets bad things happen to those that deserve it, at least most of the times and it doesnt take some sick enjoyment out of hurting innocents just because "oh hey, we are an adult cartoon so we can get away with senseless violence!". An example is the princess from the enchanted forest episode, if this was, say, Rick and Morty/Family Guy and etc, she would have been killed by the explosion and our duo (covered in her blood) would be all confused and scared and talking over themselves because haha shock value or something. But in S.F, she is able to throw the bomb away in time and is able to finally smile. Its small but its def. the sort of thing that you notice in the back of your head and you appreciate it.

it's not like the network is going to allow that unless you're aaron mcgruder with the boondocks

I know but it is kind of tiresome to have them throwing so many swear words, even villains that SHOULD have no moral issues to say it, and just not say them. Its kind of immersion breaking even.

Its like, either go for it or stop pretending like you swearing makes you vanguard or some kind of rebel, it doesnt.

Swearing does not make you special. If you want to push the envelope, you know what to do, until there, shut up, faggot.

In all seriousness imagine living in a colony of like 200 people and like one cunt is going around making everyone twice as miserable as they should be.
Like no one can say they have never met someone that was so miserable, they could convince about 100 people to label them a witch and execute them.
Anyone familiar with rural cultures should understand.

We all know Zoey's only role is to remind the audience ocassionally that no, Charlie and Pim arent gay for each other. We almost never see her and Charlie interacting significantly so we gotta assume it happens off screen and even then, none of the Smiling Friends seem like the "score" types, with the exception of Glep (who we know is a smooth talker and likely owner of an invisible magnum dong)

this fat, pig colored slob character has a bifurcated gunt and seeing that the creators of this show are terminally online weirdos my headcanon is that this is a direct reference to Ethan Ralph.

Including the part where he shits out a parasite and likely wants to eat it again.

I know I'm replying to a really old post but Adult Swim has a track record of doing this for some reason. I remember they treated the Metalocalypse team like shit too

They cancelled Aqua Teen even tho the show still had steam for a couple more seasons. You might argue that it had enough seasons but, honestly? It just feels like if your name isnt Rick and Morty, you aint shit to Adult Swim.

Many great adult cartoons got the shaft in Adult Swim. I legit we dont see Smiling Friends suffering from that

Saw this in the wild and figured to post it here FWIW.

Nice to see the show has had such consistently high ratings across its seasons with the exception of a few outliers, and even those aren't too terribly downrated overall.

It's funny to me that the lowest rated episode is the President Jimble one because I'd guarantee it's mostly people doing this.

I'm sure they want to gloat that it's taking the piss on Trump, but they have the nagging suspicion it was taking the piss on Biden, so they don't know what to do with that feeling

Too risky to claim it for your side, not enough substance to denounce it as pro-other side. Best to avoid.

I doubt they have even that kind of awareness, I've seen plenty of people assume straight up that Mr. Frog is solely a Trump stand-in and Jimble is solely a Biden stand-in, but he's "the lesser of two evils" or some retardation, so it's fine.

Or maybe it can just be a totally original, fictional political situation that has no real relevance to real world events.

Remember, President Jimble was the Vice President. And only took office when President Pinhead died after eating bad shrimp. So it’s clearly not following any President 1-for-1. If anything, he resembles Chris-Chan more than any president. The way he slurs his words, his mannerisms and his constant talk about trolls.

The idea for the episode was probably “What if Chris-Chan was president.” And they went from there.
