I know there are a couple successful independent animated shows that predate SF, but I wonder if the success of Space King convinced them of the workability/profitability of doing something independently without having to do tranny-pandering and catering to genderspecials.

With all the shows that have gone on forever and started sucking (The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, etc.) , I'm glad Smiling Friends gets to end while it's still good. People will remember it fondly in a way that won't be true of the other examples.
