Things have deteriorated to such a point that there are people who see not making a "political statement" (ie; not affirming progressive ideals) as a political statement.
 
What would you do if Zach Hadel cut in line in front of you at an ice cream truck and went "C'mon man, I created Smiling Friends. That's got to count for something right?'

It does suck and makes me sad to see the show go, but at least everything they made so far is good. If there is anything they aren't saying, they probably want to focus on their own animation studio before any other projects, considering it's brand new and will probably require all of Zach and Michael's attention compared to working on Smiling Friends that's completely owned by adult swim/Warner Bros.

Plus they left the door open for specials if they get a really unique idea they can only do with these characters, so that's cool. I almost guarantee they will do at least one special within 5 years.

I still really think 5 seasons would have been the real sweet spot. At least 4 would have been a nice rounded out count. 3 feels much too short, and there were a lot of things I was hoping to see still.

Then again, season 3 had some pretty weak episodes. When you peak at season 1 you might really be in trouble.

I hope they go on to make something new and dont just backslide into Oneyplays or some shit forever.
 
If the show had continued, Charlie would have turned into some faggot mouth piece just like Kyle is in South Park with there being some bullshit moral lesson at the end of each episode. Boss would have been like Garrison while Frog comes back to be like the Cartman or Mr. Satan figure of the show. Fuck that.
