Scratch that. She was the woman Allan was painting.

Sad to see this series end, but at least it went out while still great, and didn't drag on for years like The Simpsons or Family Guy. Looking forward to whatever Zach does next.

I fucking lost it when Friend Bot was revealed to be a pajeet. The whole episode felt like a take that against AI, and I loved it.

Hopefully they get it in them to do Christmas/Halloween Specials every now and then. Adult Swim is very friendly to doing that.

Now with the series done, I'll give my final thoughts: Pretty Aite / 10.

It beat a lot of current stuff out of the water with the worst episodes still landing on a 'Hey yeah, that was amusing' while many episodes could be a genuine crackup.

It's probably in futility, but I love Zach pointing out that 1 season of Smiling Friends cost less than a single episode of Family Guy. There's a nearly paradoxical dynamic going on where the animation industry grossly overpays some producers while the animators are super underpaid, and hopefully some executive will take a look at Smiling Friends and think, "Okay, there are non-nepo hires who can make something new that will cost 1/6th as much even if we pay them well enough." Hopefully, at worst, it'll still remain as an example for when networks want to be competitive.

Probably zero surprise to anyone who pays attention to my posts, but I think Mr. Landlord is genuinely one of the funniest villains anyone has conjured up. The considerably petty but relatable motive of just wanting someone to HANG out with lands so perfectly. I'm surprised that he actually doesn't have a ton of open fans, but as this comment put it, it's probably age that makes him more amusing competing with teenagers and redditors clinging to the meme material.
I vaguely held out that he would be a final villain of sort, maybe if the series ended as Michael and Zach planned, but I'm glad we got to see him just one last time.

Can't narrow down favorite episodes to even 3 or 5, but 'Shmaloogles' is a very good one. The scene of Charlie tripping on the bus is incredible. It's easier to say the bottom three episodes which are still solid: 'Brother's Egg' 'Mr. President' and 'The Glep Ep' for the sin of over-explaining the joke character.

Given this consistency, for consistency's sake, the premature end might be a good call.

Three genuine disappointments:

1) Very early on Michael Cusack's 'everyone is shouting and shitty to each other'' humor vanished completely, like what we saw with Pim's family visit. Aussie humor at it's finest.

2) 'Brother's Egg' should have been easily one of the best episodes but it was unfortunately a little too busy for a 12 minute episode. Either of a Joel Haver character having family problems, or an on-formula episode of helping Professor Psychotic would be solid on their own, or a special full-length episode. But together for a single episode was too much.

3) Alan. The pilot made Alan seem like a weird but well-meaning guy who just wanted to work, but they just made him whatever the plot of that episode demanded. In his paperclip episode I felt a genuine pang of disappointment when he was rude to the retail worker. Not cool, Alan! Spraying a homeless man with dirty brown water is kind of based.

But don't get me started on how inconsiderate he is to Mr. Landlord!

At this point the episodes are basically about to air so I don't care about protecting this info anymore, so here's some good news: I know someone who worked on the show and I've seen animatics of the last two episodes, and
the landlord appears at the end of one of the two. Can't remember for certain but I think it's the friendbot one.
As someone who's seen animatics, was there anything from the episodes that got cut?

So cool they got John DiMaggio as uncle Bilbert.
I knew I recognised his voice

After watching the final 2 episodes I understand why they felt like they had nothing more to offer that friendbot episode was just one long ai joke indians and all I still found them funny but I can't imagine 2 more seasons without a drastic decrease in quality

I knew it wouldn't end without an appearance from the trumpet guy. Also Zach pitched up that high sounds exactly like Tsim Fuckis. The character kinda looks like him too, it's just missing the penis on his stomach.

I'll miss this show a lot. Glad I could catch every episode live.

Both episodes involved fake out reveals, the pajeetbot, Charlie's Uncle not dying and testing him the whole time, the Landlord, and it ended with Mr. Boss saying he'll never stop joking around. The season itself had a fakeout ending with episode 8 only for two more episodes to drop later.

What if all of the show ending is a fakeout too?

I checked fakestuff.net and there's nothing there. 0/10 episode for that missed opportunity.
guys it's just a fake out right? they're actually going to announce season 4 is coming this fall and that the movie is in production for 2028 and will be in theaters right after season 5 ends
