Had the power down for almost 11 hours yesterday. It was alright at first because normally the power almost never goes out for more than an hour and we had portable chargers for our phones, so we had communication and entertainment throughout. Then the temperature dropped to 40 indoors and we were starving. I think the only thing that saved us was the fact that we live in the same zipcode as a big hospital.

This might be the first of bad winters and cold summers, due to the Grand Solar Minimum. Should we change the thread title to reflect that? Might be useful to record temps and compare them per year.
Fucking thank you for saying that instead of blaming "glabal warmin" like a mouth breathing retard. People look at me sideways like I'm speaking in tongues when I bring GSM up.

I watched a 300c spinning its wheels in my gf's apt parking lot for 5 mins, it was in this ~30 foot long section of slushy snow and once out of there it would be hard packed 300c navigable stuff.

There were 4 shovel-equipped neighbors out there assisting, digging out a little bit at a time in front of the tires so the car could go another foot or 2, repeat, repeat, repeat. No one attempted to push.

I love on Twitter all the stories of "moron right wing nutjob prepper brother/in-law/uncle/father" who supposedly doesn't own a can opener, can't open cans, let all their food spoil, are shivering in their house with 20 guns.

These guys really really don't know any actual preppers, do they?

"My brother didn't have a can opener. I have two. I made him admit Biden won before I'd give him a can opener to feed his wife and kids."

Holy shit. It comes across as the smuggest "And then everyone clapped" shit I've ever seen.

Let’s chalk them all up to r/thathappened.

Cool story, bro

Wouldn't peppers have knives? You don't need a can opener to open cans... Like do people think can openers were invented before the can?

Over hear in Houston. Thankfully we're doing better than yesterday. When i visited hime yesterday, there was water everywhere. Not enough to be a flood, but they were everywhere. And the backyard was covered in snow and ice. I'm one kf the lucky few that was able to get their power back yesterday and rhe rolling out is a pain in the ass. The last time it turned off was around 3:00pm yesterday.

People on twitter are busy attacking Republicans for this and some simping for Sylvester turner. Hell some evem attacked turner for the whole conserving water since to them, he's rich and has all the energy he can share.

Fuck, my dad was drunk one night and opened one with a chisel. He really wanted that tomato soup lol. Painted the walls orange with that little trick. RIP old man.

Sadly, the conditions have affected the 8-bit Guy:

Due to the influx of out of State workers from the south (big local project), I've been able to see at least two idiots in pickup trucks off the road every day for the last week. No tires or sandbags in the bed. Wondering why 4WD didn't save them from the ice encrusted roads.
Other than that, this winter is pretty much standard.
