🐱 So, like, did the Teletubbies just come out?

For anyone still questioning the sexual orientation of the popular 90s kiddie entertainers The Teletubbies, the group has appeared to remove all doubt. GLAAD has partnered with the brand to release The Teletubbies Pride Collection this June.

The clothing line–the proceeds of which go to benefit GLAAD–revives several 90s looks including a zip sling bag, reversible bucket hat and knee-high socks as part of a celebration of queer pride and 90s nostalgia.

“The Teletubbies have always embraced their own offbeat quirkiness and sense of style,” said Michael Riley, chief brands officer at WildBrain, the company that owns Teletubbies. “This Pride Month, we’re celebrating that ‘love who you are’ spirit through our Collection of ready-to-rave fashion that makes Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po very proud. We’ve taken the most iconic elements fans know and love about the Teletubbies and designed a playful Collection with fashion flair that we hope fans will love to wear this Pride Month and all year-long.”

For fans of The Teletubbies, the partnership with GLAAD is somewhat ironic. The show came under fire in the 1990s by the Rev. Jerry Falwell accusing the show of promoting homosexuality. Specifically, Falwell claimed the character Tinky Winky was a coded gay character. Falwell noted he sported purple fur and had a triangle on his head–two symbols associated with being queer–as well as carried a purse.

The accusations invited wide mockery, even as LGBTQ people rushed to claim Tinky Winky as one of their own. The character became an unofficial symbol of the community, and jokes about his sexuality became a staple of comedy at the time.

Here’s hoping we see Tinky Winky partying at pride festivals this year, right along side Bert & Ernie, Pennywise, the Babadook and Regina George.

I refuse to believe that anything about the Teletubbies was incidental. They live as a commune of genderless beings in a single home, but they are not a family. No mother, no father, just a group of amorphous cyborgs with in-built Screens at the center of their being. Worshipping a laughing idiot deity, eating undescriptive industrially produced sludge, served by conscious robots in a high-tech hell.

I don't remember many details of a hypnosis propaganda aimed at toddlers so I had to check for more facts:

This show was like a communist manifesto for the 21st century. A nightmarish vision of a new Man in a world devoid of God
My kingdom for a lunacy rating.

I thought my mind was always in the gutter, but these people have really outkinked me. Albeit just make random naughtycomments, they're always thinking about butt sex and kids.

I'm old enough to remember when this got controversy because parents thought it was promoting degeneracy by saying "bite my butt/bum" and they said those parents were crazy because it was just dumb toddler shit.

Well what do ya know? They weren't overreacting once again.

I haven't thought of the teletubbies on over 10 years, why do they have to bring it up and not let it be forgotten

An adult without children that watches Teletubbies is mentally disabled, a pervert, or on drugs (very possibly all three at once).

Yep it’s perfectly normal to sexualize a show about alien babies whose target demographic is literally also babies. Stop believing in the slippery slope fallacy you fucking bigot.

They were overreacting. The show itself isn't promoting any degeneracy and all of this is innocent (even if they try to slide a few dark jokes that only the people in charge would notice because it's mostly inside jokes), it's autists and fags who are taking over anything they can because they're not only consoomers, they're highly insecure.

Sure sounds like they're promoting degeneracy to me if they're partnering with GLAAD and selling merch to fucking full grown adults.

I meant then, when these christian parents went insane about it. Now, sure. Because it's already been taken over by the insane.

Hey look someone who was insulted not for being wrong but for catching them before they were supposed to.
