So some changes they did for the remake of Spyro

I don't have issues with the majority of the designs and some are pretty neat. Moneybags was a huge improvement just riddled with smug. The satyr girl's face weirds me out a little though, its like her eyes are bulging or something. Most of the Dragons however look like cringeworthy therian/furry/otherkin dragon fursonas from Deviantart. I'm also not fond of the monkey's design. That's about it.

Loved the originals as a kid. I haven't played the remakes because I only game on PC, but I've seen plenty of videos and screenshots and I really hate how Elora looks, now. She looks like a demon:

She's a faun, you dork.

But honestly if you have anything to blame I'd say Pan's Labyrinth checks out. Might have popularized the idea of fauns being more bestial than half man and half goat, satyrs were more bestial.

Then again they had this to work with:

Nothing beats Humba Wumba's ugly ass redesign in Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts

I think Zephyr's track was absolutely a wholesale improvement over the original.

A few other ones are fine, but you'll never ever beat the entire classic tunes of any remade/remastered game.

the remakes were good overall. the thing i dont like is how the world cutscenes played out in 2 with them rushing through them and missing the punch line of the jokes. three was also a bit buggy when i played and i heard you could get fucked from 100% the game but i think they fixed that with a patch by now.

Nobody is talking about how they changed the music. Look how they massacred my boy:

good thing you can play with the original soundtrack.

My favorite part of the game is how the fodder NPCs that Spyro usually meet when he gets close to them now have unique idol animations when you stay still compare to when in the old PS1 games where they are just programmed poorly due to limited technology.

This YouTube video shows the cool Fodder NPCs in order of animal and bugs from the first to third games in the series.

Pretty cool.

Wait, were those ever supposed to be cats? Go back to fucked up lizards
They were sadly originally cats in the old game but due to limited graphics and detail. You couldn't make a cat without looking ugly. In the weird part on the third game, they finally model good 3d models of cats but this was when they push the limits of the PS1. So couldn't stay lizards sadly.

The cat on the snow level in Ripto's Rage was cute, WTF are you talking about?

Got the Switch version so I can play it on the go. So far I like it, the game is vibrant, controls just fine, and I'm liking the redesigns. But the game does chug a bit during loading screens. Being able to move and shoot flames during it is a nice feature though.

Also not sure if this is just me, but I am having quite a bit of trouble steering Spyro during a charge when I use the analog stick. He moves just fine with the d-pad, but making any precise turns with the stick during a charge is pretty much impossible. I haven't played Ripto's Rage or Year of the Dragon, so may be a weird bug particular to Spyro 1.

The Switch's analog sticks suck dick.

Either use a pro controller or get used to buying replacement joycons after 8 weeks. This is what has me concerned about the switch portable, they did not change the joycon design and nothing is an actual button just a bunch of sensors that rely on strips that wear out due to friction.
