A lot of kids experiment with drawing comics because it's easy and it's a familiar form. Chris is still mentally a child, thus wasn't able to move on to different forms of artistic expression.

Bingo, I remember me and some friends wanted to make resident evil games as a kid but we were stupid so we just made resident evil comics that were terrible. Think of it like storyboarding.

Episode 21: Director Amenities
Chris returns from da future and cures all homos by putting the homosexuality cure from the year 2015 into today's water supply. Our hero then confronts beel and the evil lord Jason Kendrick Howell playing little fuck planet on the HEX-BAWX. It was all a trap you see, the devil beel (who is not based off Satan from South Park) steals his medallion. Our autistic savior learns his TRUE and HONEST high school ring was the source of his powers all along. With a powerful blast he kills beel, he then plays guitar outside 4-cent garbage and da sound waves cause the building to collapse, killing a grand amount of people. Two of those people are Clyde Cash and Jack Thaddeus. Beel returns because where's he gonna go Detroit(original joke doughnut steel), turns out Clyde and jacks are damned to hell for bring worse than hitler . They hold hands and kill themselves before the tower collapses. Chris makes the unreadable Asperchu totally awesome by making it a direct clone of Sonichu. Chris uses all the Sonichu balls/crystals to become Colossal (same size) Chris Chan and finally saves Crystal and she is promptly never seen again. Chris calls a town meeting to discuss a grand amount of things. Aspergers extremists plant a bomb in da toliet and kill Simonla. Wild contemplates being a single father when Sandy hatches and swears bloody revenge. After a FAIR trial, Alec, Evan, Sean, and Mao are served a healthy McJustice. Everyone celebrates Chris and all his worldly accomplishments every year on Feb. 24th forever and ever.

The comics gave him the highest payoff for the least amount of effort.

Strangely, that's always been the thing that bothered me the most about Sonichu, it's his magnum opus, his pride and joy, even to this day he proudly proclaims himself to be the "original creator yadda yadda" So why the fuck didn't he give it the time and effort it deserved, instead of just scrawling it down as quickly as possible.

He put forth as much effort as it needed. When you're as skilled an artist as he is, it's not unusual to be able to crank out quality product with little work.

Chris dosn't collect comics because he dosn't like/is barely able to read. I doubt he's ever gotten through an Issue of Marvel or Archie without losing intrest. If Sonichu was someone else's work he'd probably complain about the textwalls as much as we do.

Lets not even try to picture how he'd react to something a bit meatier, like Watchmen, Miracleman or Transmetropolitan.
Though I'd love to see how he'd process The Invisibles or Rogan Gosh, because those kinda comix make experienced grown-ups with working minds go into spasms.

He lacks the mental capacity to even struggle with these. This is the guy who can mistake a violent rape scene for consensual sex. He could read Watchmen, Miracleman and Transmetro in a single sitting and all he'd take away from it was that he didn't like the live birth scene in Miracleman, and probably some gross opinion about the Comedian and Silk Spectre.

Chris seems pretty indifferent to comic books as a whole (except maybe Sonic comics), and he doesn't even use the medium properly, leaving out backgrounds and text-walling whenever possible.

So, why did he choose to tell Sonichu's story as a comic, instead of, say, a prose story with maybe a few illustrations?

Probably because someone told him he was real good at drawrin' pictures and should draw comics and he thought "I could totally do that".

As a writer, I think he did it because he thought it would be easy to make Sonichu look sad or Mary Lee Walsh look evil or something, he wouldn't have to describe how they are looking or feeling. Plus I think he would constantly switch between 3rd and 1st person, not as a stylistic choice either.

The idea of Chris spending hours learning how to animate, much less actually doing a simple Gif-like jittery animation isn't likely. Getting crayons out and doodling something that his 12 year old brain is capable of is a lot easier for him

I remember in one Alec call he pointed out Chris is so unwilling to do something uncomfortable that he's willing to take the long and harder route even if the uncomfortable route is much easier by comparison.
