I've been using Dr Bronner's soaps for the last couple of years (bars one the shower, heavily diluted liquid at the bathroom sink). Their peppermint is a nice simple scent that doesn't trigger my sensitivities the way so many other complex/artificial scents do.
I bought some of the Dove stuff to try after reading your comment since I'd never heard of it. Even after a single use I can tell it's much, much better than anything I've bought before.Personally, I prefer Dove Deep Moisture which you can often find at Costco in a three pack. I would avoid anything with scents and especially anything with "exfoliating beads" which are microplastics.
Depending where you live, it might be worth also getting a shower head filter if the water in your area has a large number of mineral deposits. I've tried a number of different options off Amazon, but they tend to be pretty bad quality. The only one I can put my money on is the Nebia VivaSpring Compact Shower Filter made by Brondell. I get a good 6 months out of the filters and the difference is night as day. Again, this depends on the quality of your water, but it really does help since I notice my skin breaks out a lot less when I use a shower head filter.I bought some of the Dove stuff to try after reading your comment since I'd never heard of it. Remember that Dove was the one that launched Dove Campaign for Real Beauty back in 2004, and however innocent it might've been or promoted, it was one of the prototypes for "beautiful is black Jabba the Hutt women" (which is what it turned into).I also use Dove soap to avoid dry skin. Too bad they went woke, but whatever. I also don't buy shaving cream but use a foaming hand soap. Leave it on while you take a shit in the morning, reapply and shave. No issues with razor burn.
Yeah, I know, just don't think me not buying a bar a week is going to stick it to them and cause a change. If someone else has a soap reccomendation that doesn't dry my skin out, I'd buy that instead.Remember that Dove was the one that launched Dove Campaign for Real Beauty back in 2004, and however innocent it might've been or promoted, it was one of the prototypes for "beautiful is black Jabba the Hutt women" (which is what it turned into).
By the way, I like the heavy grit Pine Tar scent from Squatch and the lather is fun, reminds me of river mud (despite being heavy grit, it's no Lava and even then I wish for something grittier sometimes). The Wood Barrel Bourbon has too strong of a smell yet I don't feel that clean after using it. Neither of them are worth the price.
My own distaste with Dove is just how terrible the pink ones (rose) smelled.Yeah, I know, just don't think me not buying a bar a week is going to stick it to them and cause a change. If someone else has a soap reccomendation that doesn't dry my skin out, I'd buy that instead.
Ah, the days before people started to realise that Dove is owned by Unilever which also owns Axe/Lynx. You know, the company that runs adverts to teenage boys saying "use our product and women will sleep with you".Remember that Dove was the one that launched Dove Campaign for Real Beauty back in 2004, and however innocent it might've been or promoted, it was one of the prototypes for "beautiful is black Jabba the Hutt women" (which is what it turned into).
I mentioned it earlier, but Caprina Goat Milk Soap is a good choice if you have a Costco membership. If someone else has a soap reccomendation that doesn't dry my skin out, I'd buy that instead.
