Okay I'm a fat fucking liar. Discussion threads were only visible to yourself, which is why your threads have zero replies. I've fixed that, at the cost of privacy. Any registered account can view all group discussions and there doesn't appear to be a way to turn that off.

If you run a closed or private group and you want a discussion thread visible to only other members, you have to use the message wall instead.

I've added photo albums to social groups. They should be hidden from non-members, including hidden and private groups.

A while back I rolled out a Social Forum feature (sort of like 8ch's make-your-own board) and it was well received. However, it was a free mod and poorly constructed. It relied entirely on the idea of giving threads specific IDs and then filtering them. There was no real privacy to these threads and as a result I canned the idea. I didn't have the time to build my own, but some people really enjoyed it.

I did, however, find a pay-for mod. It was $20 but it's much more well built. It's now online and accessible here:

These groups are not moderated by anyone except Global Moderators and Admins. Primarily, we want to filter out:
A) Attack groups designed for intra-board drama.
B) Illegal content. Specifically, child pornography / non-nude child models, groups for bomb-threats or otherwise illegal forms of trolling, or anything that would kill our server basically.

Anything else is up in the air. That's all I'm asking from people.

If you can access Off-Topic, you can create your own group. You should also be able to make private groups which work via invitation only.
If you are a registered member, you can join any group you'd like.

Have fun. Submit feedback to this thread or PM me. The mod does look kinda shit in the dark theme. If this is a popular feature I will tweak the aesthetics to accommodate it better.

I noticed all threads in the group discussion board appear for everyone, regardless of if the group they were posted is private. I was wondering if threads could not appear for people not in those groups.

it's a stupid fucking limitation with the mod and it's a common fault they all have.
