Newbie here. Hiya! Has anyone seen this YouTube channel? I tried the search feature and nothing came up. It’s amazing and dark. Any other recommendations for this type of stuff?
 
It's great audio content to listen to in the background while cleaning and doing laundry. Really nice that he seems to help out the people he interviews and crowdfund for them. The best ones are the people who are normal and sympathetic for about 70% of the interview and then admit to something that makes you go "aw man what the fuck"

If you want something similarish the trappped documentaries are great.

It's not interesting or even funny, it's legit creepy and the old pics acts almost like a screamer

I feel sorry for the lady who can at least hold a semblance of a conversation. The shit she must've seen raising that tribe for all these years. Jesus.
 
I watched the videos on the Whittakers and it seemed kind of, I don't know. I'm not sure if exploitative is the word but it was certainly awkward. I went away with more questions than I had when I started so I did a little researching.

Looks like there were 16 siblings in all, and the ones that live in that lil' house shown on the video are Betty, who takes care of everyone, Lorraine and Ray, who seem a bit "off" and their nephew Timmy, who is also mentally unwell (though he may have graduated high school I doubt it was with honors.)

They look like there might be some Angleman's Syndrome in the bloodline, and if the parents are close cousins then it's no wonder some of the kids got an extra share of it.

Their brother Freddy is not buried under a driveway but in a cemetery. Not sure why Ray was interested in that one spot but I also don't get why the interviewer was so determined to talk about a dead relative with a nonverbal person.

So really, just a big rural West Virginia family with a few kids that have a genetic disorder. The "kids" are now in their 60s so let 'em live at home as long as someone can care for them, I say.

One of my favorite channels, especially the videos that aren't pimps or nudists.
Especially if you're interested in psychology I recommend the videos dealing with drug abuse or prostitution (usually a big overlap).
Pretty sad stuff though.

Turns out the gofundme money Mark sent to them wasn't used for buying a house, but for pissing it away on drugs and other, non-house buying things, as explained by Laita himself. A couple of thousands here and there every other week over the last couple of years.

This was discovered after another youtuber named Tyler Olivera (won't link because he's a huge faggot, but his video is still up) went to the Whittakers (and the general piss poor area where they live) and asked about the supposed house money and got a "i dun know nuffin" from Betty Whittaker. BJ, another member of the family lied about another member of family, Larry passing away to get more money from Mark, as seen here:
Turns out Larry was still alive and met Mark when he flew over for the funeral.

Tyler made it look like Mark kept the money and didn't give any to the family thanks to Betty denying getting any (or was just too inbred to properly understand the question, who knows?)
Betty and BJ are two seperate people both called Betty. (BJ is in the on the left in the thumbnail above and apparently the one who spend the money on drugs and other things)

Here's a good enough summary of the situation:

Turns out that a bunch of inbred hicks from WV who can't take care of themselves, live in filth and are intellectually stunted can also not handle money responsibly and waste it on drugs and whatever else, who would've thought?:cunningpepe:

There's so much about Mark Laita that's just not right. Savior complex ("I was a photographer for Apple but now wanna do GOOD...") throwing money around to manipulate his subjects - getting an apartment for one whore but having a key and going to the place whenever he pleased is just the tip of the pervert iceberg.

Has these losers sign a book and then silent-auction it off for NO LESS than $500 a pop. El em ay oh! He's making fucking BANK off of these ridiculous interviews and the comment section is invariably full of virtue-signallers talking about how BRAVE and INTELLIGENT these addicts are (but IRL wouldn't cross the street to piss on their heads if they were on fire).
I much prefer Peter Santenello myself - better variety of subjects, FAR less exploitative, and he travels extensively for his subjects. Bonus: HE DOES NOT INTERFERE and has no such savior complex to be assuaged.

Mark is basically is in love with that tranny Rebecca too.

Go watch some BJ Investigates on him.

Got some stuff going in IRL taking up time but I do plan on firing up the word processor and starting a separate thread on him. No promises but stay tuned!

I don't blame him for being done with the Whittakers. Once a family has a drug addict, a black hole opens up in their bank accounts.

That said, I wonder if he'll still film them once in a while, you know totally not for personal profit at all, just to show the audience how they're doing.

I always knew there was something very off about this guy. A normal, empathetic person doesn’t just blast the stories of vulnerable victims out onto YouTube under the guise of “care”. I didn’t realize how skeevy he really was until he interviewed an underage prostitute who wore nothing waist-high but a sheer bikini top.

Disgusting. I just know Mark is gonna get outed one day.

Yeah, and she was supposedly 13 (according to her and her whore mom, unreliable narrators but STILL!) and he also let her blast her socials in the original (not the blurred reupload). Apparently she showed up in a hoodie and he wanted her to change to "be more authentic." All of these ladies are from the Fig or Tenderloin so are easily found by nefarious actors/pimps. I heard that the people he spotlights are considered "trophies" on the streets, and the way he presents all their B&W photos in the thumbnails like a lineup on his channel, that's exactly what it feels like. Trophies.

There's another interview where he was talking to Rebecca about that near-naked young lady (just, why?), and said he's an ass and thigh man and didn't even notice her tits were on display... :story: (never was this emoticon more appropriate)

I'm an ex addict. I also have a little stack of cash just sitting gathering interest. I also have a dearth of free time after I complete my newest project. Once I get all my ducks in a row and get a thread going, I am seriously considering applying for an interview. Except he would have no idea I would be the one doing the interviewing,
