These redesigns are good enough, and their concepts interesting enough, that I can actually imagine a well-constructed fanfic universe based on them. They're selling me on this idea, just by looking at them.

I did try to make her into a Marill originally, but I couldn’t figure out a way to make it look good in the Sonic style. Ah well.
