So, the audiodrama is over. Infie becomes a giant ala a power ranger mook, and is literally exploded, then everyone celebrates. He may or may not be recycled for later plots, but he lost what shreds of personality he had to become a life-hater, generic doomsday villain.

Unrelated, but I stumbled in Twitter someone complaining that pretty much the entire writing staff of IDW and its adjacents, including Flynn, ganged on a poor sod that made a joke comment about the IDW characters that they misinterpreted as a death threat. Cue actual death threats piling on that guy, as well as Flynn liking one of those hostile tweets to show he's part of the hivemind, to the point the guy decided to drop modern Sonic products forever, especially IDW. I dunno if that's a common occurrence you guys know about, but it felt over-the-top.

Was it Krack again.

The story behind 'Teriaa' is that the jap staff wanted him to say some nonsense lines to show how they thought Sonic should sound, and that ended up in the final product, much to Drummond's chagrin.
"Teryaaaa" is exactly what Sonic said in the Japanese version of that scene. It's kind of "a thing" as a scream a guy might make in fiction when he's attacking or doing some other kind thing with similar effort. It's usually "translated" as a different sounding shout in English dubs. As I recall, Yuji Naka and maybe other Japanese staff were more involved in the English dub of SA2 than would be normal, which led to some weird dubbing and translation choices.
Not the only time something like this happened, since something that also comes to my mind is that if you watch that Youtube video showing off the bad English voice acting in Dynasty Warriors 3, there's a scene where someone gives a similar shout of "Soryaa!" while attacking, literally subtitled as such, obviously just taken directly from what the Japanese voice actor shouted.

every time a movies gonna come out it's always a year or 2 or 5 or 6 delay these days. Madness. By the time they do sonic 6 or 7 if they continue these things at this rate I will be the age jim carrey was when he agreed to do sonic 1 and I'm not sure how to feel about that!

Anyways really hoping it's as good as the prior ones if not better and doesn't fall to the curse movies have the last decade.

These Sonic movies look to be successful. I’m surprised nobody has thought to make video games based on the movies. Maybe a platformer? 3D action adventure?
I don't really see what you could do for a game based on the movies unless you really distort shit into a standard sonic format which would be weird and very 'nintendo hire this man"-y in visuals.

This unintentionally reminded me they had a cancelled game based on the more serious DiC cartoon that was also popular back in the day though.

You expect a lot from SEGA. Nevermind the fact that video games take way too long to make these days, or that license tie in games have been dead for a decade. Instead, you get a bonus level for Shadow Gen, for a fee of course.

Lani Minella was told she couldn't improvise. SEGA specifically had several Japanese representatives monitoring the entire dub. That's why in addition to that there's Eggman going "Yosh!" when he cradled the chao.

word

Though this was also related to that Gigi woman/whatever she calls herself. I haven't been following intuitively just poking my head in. I know Daniel Barnes is one of the ones that sort of helped kicked things off.

The implications behind this are incredibly disturbing if you're remotely familiar with the shipping community
She said they monitored everything which explains why a lot of the dialogue feels stilted and off, and it's why the characters appear to constantly talk over each other. At times she wanted to improvise but they would shut her down. The infamous fake emerald, Rouge sounding tired in Final Act, Eggman's random coughing to interrupt, Maria's rushed final words, it was all because of Japanese reps.

Also Yuji Naka made a weird comment that he wanted the characters to look like the actors. Every time Lani wanted to add something to make it sound better or edit it had to be cleared by the representatives. (At one point they called Maria by Marie) Its why Ryan Drummond has said that a lot of directions were limited to things like 'sound angry.' Really it's no wonder she got carpal tunnel from it.
