He changed his name fourteen years before this comic was written, and you'd think his alleged best friend would know that/respect that.

Interestingly enough, the name-change incident occurred within a week of my birth, and may even have happened the same day. I've long felt a strange connection with Chris, and have always enjoyed the idea that we may have been "born" on the same day.
 
Good to see another review up, and looking forward to seeing the rest of the Summer of Sonichu.

BTW, it looks like you already got things under control, but would you mind if I made some title cards for your videos, just a kind of fan appreciation kind of thing?

Certainly Chris thinks changing his name was a major life event. He appears to view his pre-Christian self as a semi-separate entity, kind of like a retarded ghost he can command to attack his enemies. This may have originated from something Bob used to say about the name change, something along the lines of 'we left that Christopher behind'. Naturally Chris misconstrued the conceit because Chris understands abstract thought about as well as a fish understands particle physics.

It's all a part of Chris's problems with "theory of mind" - in that he doesn't have any. Chris assumes everyone is exactly the same as when he last met them, even if the last time they met was decades ago. He can't imagine anyone evolving or changing. So, when he has Sarah calling him 'Christopher' in the comics - presumably it's because that was his name when Sarah was his bff and he can't imagine she'd know his current name.

Dunno if I like it or not, feels more kind of calm than I normally would do. Might try to give it a little extra flair before I finalize it.

In any event, I'm going to be covering other things before I finish Sonichu. My original plan was to do just one Sonichu review for a comeback, and then a bunch of other things, but I wanted a big damn comeback so I decided to go with the Summer of Sonichu concept.

I've seen your reviews before I've joined this forum. Great stuff, I like how you're doing a lot of research - while watching other reviews from people who don't have as much idea about Chris and are just wondering WTF is he trying to show us there in the comics is fun, I appreciate a more insightful look.
 
Looking forward, I'm actually starting to legitimately fear that I'll run out of Sonichu before the summer is over. Is there any Sonichu-related material you guys would like me to make an episode addressing? I'm already planning to do one on the leaked comics (i.e. GIANT PENIS COMIC), and possibly one devoted entirely to his penchant for Rule 34, but is there anything else you guys can think of?

Might not be Sonichu, per se (though it is a tangent to the origins of PVCC), but I'd be interested in your take on The High School Story. It's got everything: his attachments to high school, his thoughts on gender roles, the ripped-offedness of it all...

I'd like to hear your opinion on some of the Sonichu fan comics out there. There's a ton of them, the latest being Blank's "The Real Sonichu" (which I think is exceptionally well done.) I've got saved somewhere at least thirty Sonichu-based comics, probably more.
 
I'm not going to cover any fan-comics, because my style of review can't really sustain 10 minutes of "this shit is pretty funny, check it out". I don't think that would make for a compelling watch, as far as Bad Reviews is concerned.

I might do that with GIANT PENIS COMIC and just have an episode devoted to the Sonichu Specials, but I can't do that before Ivy is introduced.

Good call, I can definitely devote an episode to that; even work in an explanation of Count Graduon's name.
