God, I remember the days when Activision had Marvel licenses. I miss Treyarch being a Spider-Man studio so much. Raven's first Marvel Ultimate Alliance was phenomenal for the time. And High Moon, for all the flak the game got, made a pretty solid Deadpool game.
Aw man, 2000s Spiderman and X-Men games were kino to me. I remember playing Spider-Man (both OG and movie versions) on the PC, both SM2 X-Men Legend on the Gamecube and Ultimate Alliance for the 360. The 2000s will always be a great decade and there will never be another one like it ever again.

Microsoft is making moves really fast. Doesn't say Microsoft as the publisher though

This is a decision by Activision; until the purchase goes through, they're supposed to act independent of Microsoft, no matter how certain it is at this point.

Related note, holy shit Overwatch 2 must be doing awfully if Blizzard's putting a game on Steam. Further related, holy shit, Overwatch 2 has been out since October?!

Stuff like that is a problem, but having Abby do full frontal sex in TLOU2 is a OK? Creative vision my ass.
No no no sweaty, you don't get it! Abby having sex was done in the name of INCLUSION, and DIVERSITY, and TELLING PEOPLE THAT REVENGE IS BAD! Telling an actually heavy story about rape, parental abuse and substance abuse? No no no, gotta soften that up for the kiddies!

It's a big club, and people like the devs behind LISA are not in it.

True, but since all of Microsoft and Bethesda's games are on Steam, Acti-Blitz games are almost certainly going to follow suit once the deal is done. So mine as well get a head start and some early cash. Could have picked a better game than OW2, though.

I mean, in a way it's not surprising considering Nintendo would ok BMX XXX on their console with 100% glorious yabos while the PS2 would censor that shit.
Now you had me curious on reading about that.

SCEA (the American division) pushed for a censored version for US audiences.

Still, SCEA's global platform strategy guidelines appear inconsistent on a worldwide basis. The European version of BMX XXX has not be censored, Acclaim told IGN. It will ship with the Scores dancers showing full upper-body nudity and the Create-A-Riders with nipples.

An anonymous source working close to the project told IGN this: "The PAL version has all of the nudity in it. Sony is not being consistent about its stance worldwide. The bottom line is that they didn't want us to show nipples. Nintendo is the most youth-centric console of all the systems, and Nintendo didn't have a problem with it. That's why we have a rating system, which clearly distinguishes which games are, and are not, for children. If Nintendo didn't have a problem with it, why the hell would Sony? I simply don't know why."

Now, I agree with the anonymous source. The inconsistency between censoring doesn't make sense. It was already rated. Now, if you want the story of WHY BMX XXX turned out the way it did, here you go.

If you told gamers 20 years ago that Sony would end up being the more censorious platform-holder and Nintendo more lenient than them, they'd have laughed in your face.
sony where already fags about it 20 years ago, think I even posted it somewhere here in the thread. otherwise just look it up, they are more anal than fucking CERO.

to be fair, often laws involving content are retarded, written by even bigger retards. then you also got companies who would rather not take the hit and have to deal with a ban and possible loss of stock they have to trash (less an issue with digital these days, but still...) till it gets evaluated. for example this is one of the reasons COD stopped doing swastikas in general to not have to deal with extra releases for certain markets. over here anything "unrated" is already by default r18, so you really want to get it rated one way or another if you wanna sell it.

I fully expect the UK to have some faggy law where sex "with artistic intention" is a-ok, but cigarettes are promoting drug use and gets you straight r18 rating (which would then limit who can buy it, there's a reason media companies try to get with the lowest rating possible).

Sony’s port of Lisa: the Painful/Joyful has some 4Kids! level censoring going on.

The game came out on fucking Switch and didn’t require this, fyi.
Having to rename or change text that was never even concerning or outright considered offensive for cultural sensibilities is the type of thing that prudes do to not want any form of entertainment in their life.

Or as how Marge (in)famously put it:

Has Sony reached CCP-levels of censorship with games yet?

The only examples of censorship I can remember are on those embarrassing anime style vita-ware games where there's some nudity or big tiddies and they're forced to add steam or a cloud or some gas to cover it up. Which doesn't occur on the switch version, but then, the flagship nintendo title fire emblem has had its own share of censorship issues.
When it comes to sony, they go harder on the ESG score mandates, which is to say every main character or good guy must be a black woman and if possible, as ugly as you can make her.

I mean, those games aren't clearly for everyone but what remains unforgivable is SIE pressuring japanese third-parties to follow "american/globohomo sensibilities" (instead of simply letting the related localization branch and rating board doing their jobs for the overseas version), even if their games weren't meant to be released outside of the JP home market.

Nintendo of America is pretty gay too but its scope of influence, during this Switch generation, has been limited to localizations of Nintendo's first-parties. It shouldn't go beyond that as long as the Kyoto headquarters remains in charge, unlike what happened to Sony Computer Entertainment.

Sony has been more of a worldwide company than an actual Japanese company. Remember, they have their movie outlet (specially shit like Columbia, Tristar, Screen Gems, Sony Animation, etc.) and they're more focused on their leftist ideology, like other big name companies

it's a conglomerate, not every branch interacts with each other, sony computer entertainment had not much to do with sony pictures before they got restructured and moved in 2016. sony life and bravia probably interact even less.

they also only make wokeshit vidya and crappy movies, they're not on this level yet (but slowly getting there):
