Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is a separate branch that does its things just like how Sony Music Entertainment Japan (SME or SMEJ, which owns Aniplex) has no qualms to make games for the Nintendo Switch (i.e. Demon Slayer and anything Nasu), even if both are affiliated to Sony itself.

Vita was the definition of "wasted potential". Unless you lived in Japan to obtain certain exclusive accessories (like the ability to transfer PSP games on your PSN account, the 64GB memory card, etc.) and check out the vast amount of Vita games there, it was a rather underwhelming system otherwise for other markets. And I say this as someone who liked the Vita very much.

You could also just buy a PS5 and play PS3 games on that...but the "backwards compatibility" feature for PS3 games is locked behind a paywall that costs $160/yr...and it's streaming only so you need good internet because you can't download the games...and the streaming only supports a list of selected games... yeah nevermind.

In the current year, Sony give absolutely zero shits what gamers want. Playstation is exclusively for people who like sports or films and people who just play call of duty/fortnite/apex.
Digital sales has been a major cope for the horrifically bad software sales for PS5, they havent increased that much and they're especially low for RPGs
