Considering every other Sony Division seems to look at the others making retarded decisions before saying “Hold my Beer”, I legitimately wouldn’t be surprised if they just let people keep access they shouldn’t have…

How do they get away without even making a statement about this? I can only imagine the flailing and chaos going on inside the company.

You'll be amazed at how much corpos will let shit fall apart without making a statement, even internally. It's like the niggers in charge of handling will pretend things are fine, so long as they do not mention anything is wrong. Of course everything is burning around them.

Without knowing how things work for Sony, I can tell you that for most big software companies running incidents like this there is a first phase of mitigating the problem before worrying too hard about root cause statements.

They have made it clear the system is down on their status page, next is resolving the issue, then root cause, then short term actions to prevent it from re-occurring, then long term actions.
 
My dad likes to play CoD with his other boomer buddies, and I was recently playing CoD campaigns, so the outage is annoying both of us. I've seen theories that it was a breach and they're rallying the legal dept before making a statement, but that's just speculation. Legally, if it was a breach, I believe they have up to 72 hours to notify their customers.

I just happened to retrieve my PS3 just before the breach happened. Downside is I can only play for 2 hours before it shuts off by itself cause the PSU is fucked up but at least I'm better off than a PS5 owner. I can play games ;)
I wonder if a PS5 controller could fly.

I might just sell mine. FF is going to PC now, all the old JRPGs i like got pc ports and i spend a lot more time on it with newer JRPGs getting pc day 1s anyway. The first party games have been mid at best, really shit at worse. Just port the uncharted games to pc and there would be really nothing left for the ps3/ps4-5 era to even boot up the console for. And for them you have the ps3 emulation, and improving ps4 emulation.

I literally downloaded wuthering waves yesterday because I saw a play through and thought it looked cool and my phone is old so I can’t download it

Didn't PlayStation go through something similar with the PS2 still having a massive player base compared to the PS3 even within the PS4's launch?
