Sony hate thread

Jesus, has it really been 2 years since the PS5 dropped?

Goddam Sony, WTF?!
Almost! In fact, we just passed the 1 1/2 year mark of the PS5's lifespan. So I did a little bit of research:

As of May 13th, 2022, its been 547 days since the worldwide launch of the PS5 on November 12th, 2020. The PlayStation 2 launched in Japan on March 4th, 2000, so its 547th day was September 2nd, 2001. There were shortages, but not nearly comparable to what we're seeing today, and even with the American launch being 7 months later, you could reliably just go to the store and walk out with a PS2 by then.

Wikipedia has a series of handy articles cataloging the entire PS2 library, and you can sort them by date, so here are some titles the PS2 had within its first 547 days:
  • Final Fantasy X
  • Devil May Cry
  • Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec
  • Timesplitters
  • SSX
  • Para Para Paradise
  • Shadow Hearts
  • Twisted Metal: Black People
  • Red Faction
  • Onimusha
  • Zone of the Enders
And a month later, GTA III would arrive, revolutionizing video games forever. Of course, don't forget, the PS2 could play PS1 games as well, so you had a whole library of older games available, too.

There are a butt-ton more, of course, and even I didn't realize just how immensely strong the PS2 already was before the Gamecube and Xbox even dropped. If it just vanished and died right then, it'd forever be considered a good console on what it already had with a lot of wasted potential. Sort of like the Dreamcast, ironically.

But, the PS5?

The PS5.

This is all the PS5 has to offer. This and nothing else:

Why? Because everything woke turns to shit.

Don't sit here and act like the PS3's JRPG library was hot shit. It wasn't. Xenoblade is considered the best JRPG of its generation for a reason. Even the Final Fantasy games were shit.
I've never said the PS3's RPG library was good, I think people forget just how dark those times were for RPGs. Dark Souls 1 and 2, Demon's Souls, Graces and Xillia 1 and 2 were probably the top tier PS3 rpgs which still eeks out just xenoblade. That whole generation for RPGs was essentially best of the worst, it couldn't hold a candle to what came before it and what came after it.

Xbox just had Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia if you couple that with ports like Nier and DS. So yeah there was not a whole lot going on period.

You know you mentioned shadow hearts, that just got supposedly revived for their new Playstation service. A whole big slew thing for IP paperwork went through which means the series is no longer dead.

None of that matters unless they actually put out a trailer because so many gaming ips have had their trademarks renewed with absolutely nothing being done

Sony are the biggest retards ever for 1) not actively pushing the Vita 2) not actively encouraging devs for it 3) abandoning it flat out, paving the way for nintendo to cut loose of portables in favor of that abhorrent switch garbage.
Yes mobile is king, that was never the point. The point was having a dedicated games system contrasting the china gambling casino feces that mobile gaming is.

I don't think the Vita succeeding would prevent Nintendo from making a hybrid console. They had been experimenting with the Wii U. Even if the Wii U succeeded, the Switch would still happen.

And Blue Dragon. That whole console generation fell off a cliff in terms of JRPG output, the genre was largely confined to portables from that point.

DS/PSP were the last systems to really knock it out of the park. Especially DS, it had a bunch of established franchises like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Golden Sun, Mega Man, etc show up, and there were decent one offs too like Glory of Heracles and The World Ends With You.

Fuck Sony for the Vita by the way. They released the thing, had about ONE years worth of games made for the fucking thing(with the TWO of the big system sellers being a COD and Resistance shooter made by a fly by night shovelware studio that shut down almost immediately after) and then just left it to rot after that. Never bothered to resolve any of the issues like the shitty memory cards, they just turned it into a glorified PS4 controller. Even worse is the rumor that the only reason Sony censors the shit out of their games now is because they blame weeb shit for the failure of the Vita(despite nintendo not giving a shit and making obscene amounts of money regardless.).

Damn, only a few more consoles until PS9. I wonder if they'll get that same actor for the PS9 ad in like 15 years.
PlayStation 6 is gonna be some Stadia shit and then PlayStation 7 is gonna be even more Stadia shit but with no backwards compatibility, and it won't make any sense, and Sony's gonna issue some BS statement like "PS6 games can't run on PS7 because our hardware is different" and idiots will defend them anyway.

Then those idiots will proceed to buy their fourth remasters of GTA5, The Last of Us, the Uncharted series, etc.

How is it we got numbers on Elden Ring but they couldn't manage with Horizon?
