anyone who thinks MS won't fuck with sony once they own cod is delusional, where does this fucking "good guy microsoft" narrative even come from?
I'm waiting for Linux to support online AAA games so I can completely abandon Windows. Sony is shit but that doesn't make Microsoft any better, I can still play ps2 games on Ubuntu though which the PS5 cannot.

It's not about Microsoft being the "good guys", it's about Sony being annoying and obnoxious over this whole ordeal, and the regulators giving retarded arguments.

Some already have native support like War Thunder. Apparently MS Flight Sim also works through proton albeit a little buggy when it comes to online. Same story with Forza Horizon 5. Assetto Corsa works great though.

they're being annoying for a reason, and being obnoxious doesn't make someone wrong.

Here's some anecdotal evidence of how well the PS5 is selling.

Here's the Sony store in Yongsan mall in Seoul. I'm assuming this is unsold stock because that's what it looks like. There's a pretty big console base in Korea but a lot of people I know, including students, have a Switch.

This is what it looks like when PS5s are in the wild and not being scalped.

I thought Korea was mostly computer players? At least from the ol' stereotypes.

The console market has always existed. From what I've heard, the PS1/PS2 era was just little shops selling modded consoles and burned games. They had to go "legit" in the PS3 era because they couldn't pirate. I have seen shops selling modded Wiis though lol.
I think the days of Starcraft and Diablo being big are gone. I still see PC rooms around but most people play on their phone these days. I haven't been in one in years.
I see tons of people in the shops for Switch games. And some for PS4 as well. It's absolutely made inroads in Korea. It speaks to how a company just needs to make fun games for people to buy it, because Nintendo is a Japanese company and Koreans are retarded when it comes to Japan.

Xbox is in good standing right now because Gamepass is good, and they don't have a Neil Druckmann popping out every now and then to chastise their own customers and fart out retarded things like that second rerelease of The Last of Us at full price.

Xbox is still woke as fuck, they just aren't giving us a big antagonist like Druckmann to scream at. The Last of Us has a lot more to make fun of than that hideous controller with like every single woke flag. Which, by the way, isn't directly on sale or anything, it's buried as an option in the Design Lab. The thing where you can customize a controller and then overpay for it.

That's really interesting. I've heard before that 90s gaming in Korea was pretty much whatever they could get on old DOS computers. Also, something about a big embargo against Japanese products that was lifted in the late 90s? And that's why they didn't even have imported Famicoms or something?

I'm not sure about the embargoes, way before my time. I have seen Korean clones of old consoles like the NES and Megadrive so they may have been allowed through that.

Also, you're right. At least Phil and Todd know enough to keep their mouths shut other than to hype games.

Here's some Korean commercials of those old console clones:

while it's easy to laugh at, cuckman is a nothingburger, in a few years people will call him and TLOU2 retarded just as people do with TLJ now. sony is a laughing stock with or without him, and he doesn't matter if/when sony pulls their heads out of their asses or go under as a consequences of their retardation.

meanwhile MS is far more dangerous in the long term. for one you don't want sony to go under, not really, for obvious reasons. the other MS usually being just as retarded or even more as sony (nokia, zune, xbone), but when they aren't you better prepare your anus. IE6 was always laughable shit, but still gave is years of cancerous web practices we suffer from to this day. windows is a POS no one would use if he wouldn't have to, but what are the alternatives?
phil spencer giving people cheap games is all fine and dandy now, but apparently everyone things they do it out of their goodness of their heart, not squeeze their customers down the line like they always do.

and for the record, MS misshandling their IPs is much more pathetic and sad than whatever sony does, at least the last tranny of us gave us funny memes to laugh at.

Microsoft’s biggest obstacle has always been handling their studios well, it's always been either too involved or not involved at all. Sometimes the studios still do great, other times you have 343i. I'm not too worried at the moment about their practices as Spencer and Nadella are a far cry from what Gates, Ballmer and Mattrick did. Not perfect but much better than before.

How they and their subsidiaries have handled stuff like Halo fucking sucks, though, so you're not wrong on that.

Seriously dude, everything you say is just fucking stupid. You vastly overstate level of foreign ownership of the Japanese economy. The fact is, major native Japanese companies are generally not foreign owned, and it is extremely rare for one to become foreign owned. The Japanese economy is highly insular towards outside companies, and there are numerous measures taken by both Corporate Japan and the Japanese government to keep it that way. Keiretsu are the most famous example and partially exist to prevent massive corporate buyouts, especially by foreign companies. And part of the way they do that is interlocking shareholdings, particularly by banks. The only noteworthy acquisition of a major Japanese company by a foreign entity in recent memory was Foxconn buying out Sharp. And everyone was shocked when it happened because everyone expected Sharp to sell out to another Japanese corporation. Part of the reason the Japanese government and Nissan colluded to remove Carlos Ghosn from power was because he was working to have Renalt takeover Nissan, and the older Japanese corpos (and Japanese government) couldn't stop him any other way. The fact that you think Japan won't act to protect marquee native companies from foreign takeover just shows how ignorant you really are.

And the only thing Japanese that Microsoft got out of the Zenimax deal was Shinji Mikami's company, Tango Gameworks, which isn't a "major" Japanese company by any stretch, but a single video game studio of just 65 people. The only reason they got that is because Tango had been bought by Zenimax when it ran into financial trouble as it was starting up, and the acquisition basically saved the company. If you actually look into it, you will realize that the Japanese video game studios that have fallen to foreign ownership, like RED Entertainment and SNK, are all smaller, Japanese studios, some of which had fallen on hard times in the past.

And with Japan actively trying to decouple itself from China, to the point of actually paying companies to remove their operations from the country (which they claim to be because of the coronavirus, but probably has more to do with the deteriorating relations between China and the West), any major Chinese investments will almost certainly face government scrutiny and be opposed by the Japanese in principle, because the Japanese, in general, hate the Chinese, and don't trust them. The only people they hate more, are Koreans. They will happily sell to them, because money is money, but having the likes of Tencent make major moves to buy up large parts of Corporate Japan just isn't happening, which is why they haven't tried to.
This is some manner of necroposting, but after about a year has the situation changed any?
