Sony hate thread

They only see Destiny making bank (because there is no competition) and want in on that.
Meanwhile in the real world, the people who want a game like Destiny 2 have that game. It's called Destiny 2. It's not like you're selling bagels and can just undercut your competition, games are something that hooks people, and they tend to play that game until they burn out. Why not look into a particular genre that's just not getting any representation lately? Guitar Hero sure has been dormant for a long time, and GH Live flopped because of its different, awkward guitar that made it functionally a different game than Guitar Hero. Old GH instruments now go for a pretty penny on the second-hand market (so many got destroyed and thrown out by Gamestop), Hi-Fi Rush did especially well, and modern music games like Muse Dash and Friday Night Funkin are very popular. If I were Mr. Moneybags, I would gladly invest in a spiritual sequel/revival of Guitar Hero.

I always thought it was capital R Retarded that they didn't tightly hang onto Crash Bandicoot, that was their defacto mascot until he just kinda wasn't.

Sony must have had a legal team full of crackheads at the time. How it was negotiated with Universal was that they would own the IPs (Crash and Spyro), but that Sony would own the release version code. As long as Sony bothers to make a PS1 emulator for their consoles, and/or PC I guess, they don't have to give Activision a cent.

As a classic Playstation 1 fanboy, it's really, really weird to see Crash and Spyro on anything other than. It's especially weird to see them on Xbox, but I have both Crash and Spyro trilogies purchased for the Xbox. Those two were associated with the Playstation brand for so long, it was just weird seeing them pop up on other systems. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad other folks are getting to play these classics, it's just a little weird for someone who grew up with the Playstation 1 and in that particular generation to see all this cross platform madness happening.

Normies have strong brand loyalty, and while PS has fuck all for exclusives, that doesn't matter to them because it still gets most of the multiplatform releases anyway.
Has anyone noticed how Playstation YouTubers have a higher tendency to point out that their gameplay is for Playstation? When someone uploads footage of a multiplatform game, PS4/5 players like to put the console in the title, while players on other systems usually don’t do that unless there’s a good reason, like they want to show handheld Switch performance or PC mods.

As a test, I just opened a private browser and searched “hogwarts legacy gameplay”. Of the first 30 results (several of which weren’t strictly gameplay), four of them specified something like “PS5 4K 60FPS” or “PS5 longplay”, while only one mentioned PC (plus one more that focused on technical aspects of the PC version) and none mentioned Xbox. I also tried “skywalker saga gameplay”; three PS5, one Xbox, one PC, no Switch.

It might not mean anything, but it does line up with how they use multiplats as their main argument for how good the PS4/5 is.
