Almost every game past present and future?
That's like buying a Blu-Ray player and saying that Breakfast at Tiffany's is a killer app for it. Never mind you can get it on DVD, VHS and digital. What game would be THE game to sell Steam Decks?

The whole point is that there isn't just one game to sell it. It has an input scheme that allows you to play any PC game, especially games that are typically made just for mouse like RTS and strategy games, and even FPS games competing with mouse accuracy, and its a computer so it can play any game (if it will run). It's not sold by a single game, but instead by the entire package, the whole PC ecosystem, not just Steam and not just one game.

I should have said something funny.

Honey Select 2, it even runs on Deck

Is the Steam Deck open source? If it catches on, perhaps it could double as an emulation machine without fear of violating warranty or terms of use through modification.
In addition to everything that’s already been said, it’s been an emulation powerhouse from day one, even able to emulate Switch. Steam OS has a desktop mode that basically lets you do anything you can do on a normal Linux PC, and you can launch non-Steam games (including emulators) from the normal game launcher. It’s not the easiest thing in the world to set up, but nothing about the hardware or software is restricted.

Let’s say Valve makes Steam OS even more stable/idiot-proof and makes a new generation of Steam Machine, theoretically setting a standardized benchmark for PC games to target like what the Steam Deck did. Would that qualify as a new big player in the console space, even if it’s technically a Linux box?
I guess so, if it was as you describe. Console and PC don't seem as distinct as they once were, one of the major differences still seems to be physical media but Microsoft & Sony seem to want to phase that out.

She was much better when she looked like a street whore.

A giraffe street whore apparently.

what happens with the Steam Deck five years from now since it's preset hardware that cannot traditionally be upgraded like a PC?
They already confirmed intent to release Steam Deck 2.

...so their dream utopia is BLM posters sprinkled around a big city under attack by a giant sand monster and super villains running amok?
Yeah, because reality is BLM posters sprinkled around a big city under attack by a giant pack of folks with socio economic factors running amok that makes them feel bad because reality doesn't conform to their insanity.

Two Dollars covered it. Basically, the Steam Deck is for me right now "ALL THE CONSOLES!". I have tons of stuff emulated in there as well as a comfortable way to game in the living room when I want to get a bit fancier. I played all of Fire Emblem 3 houses through it, but also use it to play Armored Core 6 and can play a few levels of Donkey Kong Country 2 or try out some random Genesis game while killing some time on the couch while the TV is in use by somebody else. It's that insane level of versatility that is the appeal. Cloud save is also a surprisingly nifty feature when I swap between the deck and my desktop.

I don't know why people feel this way, the combat is clunky and feels weak for a guy who can lift 10 tons, and the swinging still doesn't feel right, it's as unsatisfying as it was in Amazing Spider-Man 2

Also what the fuck were they thinking leaving out Eddie Brock when they did a Venom story?
you can turn down swing assists now which makes the swinging more physics based - your webs draw you closer to the building you attach them to for example and i actually like that webbing guys to walls isnt as good of a strat as in the first game. tho thats personally my preference for spiderman that he's not all that strong, i dont like the super strength theyve given him over the years. back in ditko when he was just merely strong enough to punch things I preferred it

gameplay wise tho like even tho i like the swinging and combat a poor story, poor level design and terrible mary jane sections doesnt mean im letting it off the hook for all that. harry should not have been venom, they shouldve adapted the ultimate eddie whose dad was friends with richard parker
Except that never happens. They pay lip service to the idea of Miles being consumed by revenge, but it never comes to pass. Aside from him hesitating to help Peter once because Li was getting away (which Peter just shrugs off), it's just people telling him not to do anything stupid and him confirming that he won't. Then when he finally faces Li, he's forced to fight by Kraven and easily ends up putting aside his vengeance to help Li escape and find Peter. It's not like he got captured by Kraven because of his revenge mission, it's not like he comes close to killing Li, it's not like he's pushing anyone away. He just gets over it without much inconvenience.
damn that sucks. not at that point yet

What's funny is it'd probably be more effective at being propaganda if it was a bit more reserved. Anyone can see this for what it is thanks to that, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise?
Subtlety is a dead art. I sometimes see or remember old stuff that I used to like or still like and now see how full of the current year propaganda they actually had, even if it was in it's infancy, but it was presented in a much more palatable form. The desire to entertain o to tell a compelling narrative was still king, the propaganda was just seasoning. Today though, they grab pepper and jam it directly into your nose and call you a biggot when you start crying cause it hurts.

My recent goto example is Gargoyles. I love that show, but my fucking god if it doesn't push a lot of stuff I hate from current year +7

The old Didney cartoon? I never liked it as a kid, maybe I subconsciously knew :story:

Definitely, you can never underestimate the importance of the software ecosystem. Just look at Apple, there isn't much that an iPhone can do that an Android phone technically can't, but they have ease of use and idiot proof down to an art, and as such a major portion of the smartphone market. You look at the Steam Deck, people tend to get intimidated by Linux, and Windows on portable devices tend to be not ideal due to the interface not being designed for such, Valve put in a easy to use OS specifically designed around the system to get around this problem. You can see this with how you can install Windows no problem on the Deck, but people chose to stick with SteamOS.

god damn. i'll be honest i LIKED spiderman one for PS4. never played spider man MM for PC cause the fagflags, and two is right out. the rest of the line up has been utter ass. TLOU one was good on ps3 and was impressive showing the true power that system had(just was a bitch to develop for). TLOU2 is a massive wank fest. god of vore is basic shit, and ghost of sushi was SOOO damn generic that i played it for all of 3 hours and left. the PS3 was sony's best. they came late but at the end has some fantastic games i LIKED resistance i liked motorstorm and i liked infamous. all in all my PS4 has ended up as the yakuza box and i wont be getting the new PS5 so i can have more censorship in my games. when NINTENDO is more laxed that you you know you're going overboard.

The big one for me was probably Steven Universe. It was the first """kids""" show I saw that tried to push LGBT, but I looked past it at first because "well they're aliens and they're not REALLY in a relationship or anything, they're just close friends, and that butch one might be a guy anyway". And I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for things like fusion being a thinly-veiled metaphor for [usually-]lesbian sex because surely a kids show wouldn't do anything like that and I'm just overanalyzing it. Then they did the episode about how Ruby and Sapphire first met being the most unsubtle gay acceptance allegory I'd ever seen and I stopped watching mid-episode. Apparently they kept going even deeper with it and did a full-on gay wedding episode. Lest you forget, the creator used to draw Ed Edd n Eddy porn before getting a job as a showrunner at Cartoon Network.

>Rebecca Rea Sugar (born July 9, 1987) is an American animator and screenwriter. She is best known for being the creator of Steven Universe
>According to Sugar's father Rob, Rebecca Sugar and her younger brother Steven were raised with what he called "Jewish sensibilities"

I liked it too. Spider-Man on PS4 seemed fine at the time. But that was the problem, I didn't suck it's dick and act like it was the greatest game ever made so I had to deal with some Sony faggots losing their shit when I'd point out that it was pretty much just a polished version of every Spider-Man game that had come out for hte past decade just with a shit story and Mary Jane segments.

Now I hear you can't stop criminals because helping police is bad so all you do is rescue people from fires and set up gay dates or something. Definitely not worth a PS5, but nothing is.

it was the best version of a spider man game that can be made. swinging around new york was super fun and i think i had more fun just swinging around than dealing with the almost paint by numbers arkham combat. was the combat bad no but it wasn't revolutionary either.

The inversion here is kind of funny but makes sense. The Switch Fate outselling PS4 and 5 combined is funny but expected. Man, adding up totals and I thought the old install base for the PS4 would still be doing better than the Switch for more action focused games like musous but it's not really close.
A majority of consumers do not really care that much about framerate unless we're talking of single digit happening frequently and other big inconveniences such as very long loading times. As a result and general rule, Switch and PS4 versions of japanese third-parties are most often virtually indistinguishable from each other. But one is on a hybrid (home/portable) console and the other on a home-only console (which is phasing out now).

when NINTENDO is more laxed that you you know you're going overboard.
Don't be fooled though, the infamous draconian censorship was solely the fault of the american branch itself. While NoA's influence has been greatly diminished to localizations of first-parties these days, it still proves itself to be cancerous and should never be trusted as such.

I like Nintendo as a Japanese company, but NoA and its employees can suck dicks. Just like I enjoy Nippon Ichi Software and its vidya works too whereas NISA is absolutely gay.

That’s the exact issue with Sony these days. Sony of America is the reason Sony sucks. And it all started with a stupid booby game.
