Apparently Bungie pushed some Destiny expansion back from Feb to June, putting it outside the fiscal 2023 year.
Is Destiny healthy under Sony? I hear nothing about it anymore besides the cash shop.
It's completely shifted from actual development to the bare minimum with maximum cash output. Not a Sony thing, they were working towards it before the purchase. Expansions cost as much as a full game just for the base, then you need to pay over 100 bucks to get access to the actual yearly content; 4 seasons, which they raised the price of from 1000 silver (10 bucks) to 1200 silver (the 10 dollar silver bundle only gives you 1100 silver, the next one up is 15 dollars), dungeons that used to be included with the expansion are now paid at 20 bucks (silver only of course) and the dungeons are now worse when they made them paid, being more formulaic and bare minimum with lacking rewards that are reskins of existing weapons with some minor doodles added on top.
The game's performance took a shit ever since Beyond Light when they did some engine overhauls, and they no longer have Vicarious Visions to clean up their mess, so the game is breaking apart at the seams. Made even worse by them shifting gameplay from weapon focused to ability focused and spamming cannon fodder enemies. The game is dying because of all these changes, enemy AI doesn't even work anymore and they have stopped reacting to grenades or players, they are just standing targets. Enemy teleportation and them not being affected by damage is another big issue that cropped up every other season, the network packets are bloated to hell with how many perks are attached to each weapon now, made worse with crafting. I stopped playing a year ago but I keep tabs on whats going on and all of this has gotten worse, and apparently their servers just broke for weeks while bungie called it a 'ddos attack' (the game is mostly p2p), and then the bloated weapon perks broke the servers and people were able to put any perk on any crafted weapon and 1 shot raid bosses, then they hacked a fix together that recently resulted in the game just crashing when you try and transfer crafted weapons to the vault, which caused player data to rollback because it wasn't saved, so people were re-rolling item drops and stuff.
Through all of this, the cash shop works perfectly, and they continue to raise the prices on everything while releasing less and less content with each release.
Those layoffs will probably be the hundreds of people that don't actually do anything and just run those 'trans and bungie' 'black at bungie' 'latinx at bungie' things instead of working.
