Interesting, didn't know PS3 had an adaptor like that. I guess I'd still count 360 as the last, since the cards were intended for the system's contemporary library by default.
It's a really useful tool, you can transfer saves from PSN downloaded PS1 & PS2 classics even from PSP / Vita onto real hardware memory cards and vice versa in the PS3 XMB. I use mine to go between a PSPgo and a PS1.

Random, but was 360 the last system to support traditional memory cards? I never had an XBO, but I can't imagine they kept the slot around just so people could use its backwards compatibility with their old save files.
Yes it was. The Xbox One doesn’t have a replaceable hard drive nor any memory card slots, though you can plug in an external HDD for games.

Xbox Series has a “storage expansion slot”, with proprietary memory cards, though they’re just overpriced M.2 drives to make sure you have to spend a fortune for more storage. You can still use a USB HDD, but only for older games.

There's truth to this. if we are calling spades on both sides a good amount of spiderman and god of war sales are bundles as well. Up until recently you couldn't purchase a ps5 without it being a bundle with one of those games. Since the ps5 slim model came out has been the first break since the forced bundle by Sony to inflate sales.

But many of those on that list aren't bundles. Botw and totk were never bundled with a console, neither was animal crossing. Despite them having themed consoles for those games the game was never included in the box.
Yeah, Sony has been doing this for a long time. I wonder how much of HZD's sales were from bundles.

This is why I think Insomniac is right to be concerned about Microsoft buying ActivisionBlizzard. Microsoft is at a position to take advantage of all of the IP's they now own and make tons of games that will basically force the consumer come running to the Xbox Goy Pass.
Microsoft has a far superior IP catalog now than Sony with Fallout, TES, Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, Halo, Call of Duty, Doom, and many others. However in their quest to acquire these IPs, they bought a bunch of "formerly-great" game studios that have seen all their talented and competent employees leave and they are pretty much zombie studios now. Microsoft's biggest issue is finding someone to make their games. If they're too retarded to reorganize their studios, they should at least license out their IPs to game devs that have proven themselves to be competent.
I think we are going to see a big shift from the PlayStation to Xbox this year. This is coming from someone who hates both companies and everything that they stand for.
I doubt it will happen this year. If there's going to be a shift from Playstation to Xbox, it's going to happen when the next gen comes out. If we're going off of how long last gen lasted, this gen is nearly halfway done. The CoD deal is going to run out for Playstation before the next gen comes out so that's when there will be a shift of normies. Normies aren't going to be hyped to buy the PS6 because that would mean giving up on all their goyslop like CoD, Diablo, Fallout, Halo, and TES.

I think that's the best thing that could potentially come out of the acquisitions. Take the IP's away from the dead studios and get some new blood to work on those big franchises.

This has possibly been the most pathetic sellout console generation in videogame history. I think both Microsoft and Sony are prepping up for the next generation instead of trying to make up for the mistakes they've made, which is a smart move.

I think the biggest problem with the current console generation is that all of the upcoming games should've come out a lot earlier. I guess the overpaid devs were busy larping during COVID.

It's pretty funny that the PS4/Xbone gen saw a huge resurgence of the PC gaming market and this followup gen has only emboldened that growth. Microsoft seems to be the only one of the two to actually take advantage of this as they made a huge shift to being a subscription service with their "Netflix of Games" with Gamepass while Sony struggles to make significant sales with their PC ports.

It's weird to me that this is the first console gen I've ever skipped out on.

The PS3, 360 and handhelds DS and 3Ds were the last gen consoles I've owned. I do not care for console gaming in general.
That's as good of a time as any to jump ship, you really didn't miss anything by skipping the PS4 and Xbox One.

Nice controllers, though. Xbox finally solved their D-pad issues and wound up making the best one, and the Dualshock 4 was a pleasure to hold. The trackpad worked very well, though that's more of a benefit to PC users than PS4 users. Most of the time, it was just used as a very large select button within PS4 games.

Not to mention, by E3 2013, the design of the Xbox One resembling a VHS player and the fact that it was set to also have Orwellian style camera movements and such was already made fun of, and by the time the PS4 came out, it was just underwhelming, especially having to have the same games as the PS3 during launch, was already seen as a joke to some. So yes, I'm happy I've abandoned ship by that point
We know. You say this every other week.
And why should I stop? I still stand by my ground

The other big part about GT7's microtransactions, is that you can have a maximum of 20 million earned in-game credits, but there is no limit to the amount of purchased credits that you can have. The fact that the selling cars feature was not added until the November 2022 update, means that not only do you have to wait for the car that you want to appear in the Legendary Car Dealership, you can only save to purchase a select few at a time, due to the earned credit limit. The ability to sell cars again, means that at least you can purchase cars to sell later, to bypass the credit cap, but not being able to do so, for the first 9 months of the game's release, was a really scummy move, since selling cars was a standard feature in previous GT games from the start.
That's done on purpose, as part of the FOMO system. Cars don't return for 2-3 months. It's designed to get people to buy credits. The UCD and Legends shop both revolve around FOMO practices

Which leads me to a fun point.

Since there's no way to argue past the blatant FOMO besides saying "well I didn't feel pressured to buy" what GT fans started doing, at least on the subreddit, was start claiming that FOMO is a mental health condition, and that bringing it up so lightly was upsetting. Iirc 2 people were banned/suspended for pushing further whenever these defenders popped up.

This behavior isn't limited to the GT sub or to FOMO Tho. GT has alot of legitimate issues, and to avoid discussing those the universal cope is always "you're arguing" or "you're upsetting people". I got youtuber Naffantait to outright show this by pointing out GT7's classing issues when he was ragging on FM's class issues (GT is 100x worse) and after trying to make an argument he just kept repeating "you're upsetting people with your arguing and need to stop".

The fanbase itself could be a fucking cow, if it wasn't so niche. Between the players, the trooned out esports, the paid youtubers/shills like Cal and Hubblesphere, etc etc you could write a book about this stuff

Xbox Elite pad v1 is the greatest gaming controller ever made, ever. One of the few achievements to come from that gen
Only issue I had with both it and the V2 is the rubbers glue wearing out over time. I also took issue with the V2 only having 1 type of each analogue stick, so now you can only have 2 different analogue sticks instead of the same, Still a good controller, I would much prefer it over the DualSense Edge.

I'd say Xbox controllers, while being flawed at times, still managed to be better than Playstation controllers from DualSense onward
