I'm legitimately pissed off at Americans once again

All these posts about how the PS5 doesn't have features previous consoles did makes me wonder if we've discussed the bullshit that is not being able to transfer one's PS5 saves to USB. That's some fucking nonsense. Fuck you Sony.

That was another avenue of hacking the console. I remember doing it to change my name's color to enemies in CoD4 so they'd think for a sec or two I was a teammate.

Technically everything just short of playing games is unnecessary in a console.
^this

The day they started putting musical logo screens at boot is the day everything went to shit. Sega CD, Jaguar, Saturn, PS1... what used to take miliseconds/seconds to boot up the game in the NES/Genesis/SNES days wound up taking an eternity with the consoles to follow, to now we have faux pcs that take 30 seconds just to boot to the main menu.

having a CD-Player ontop of a game player wasn't bad. Not everyone had a speaker system in their house and if you wanted to blast your music at home, that was the (albeit ghetto) way to do it. Hell, the DVD playback options were convenient too. But everything else can get fucked.

The better question is why not? It's more convenient sometimes, especially on a portable. Instead of shifting devices you can just use the one you're currently using anyway.
The Wii browser was surprisingly good until about 2009.
It’s very simple:

Early 2007: Smartphones don’t exist yet, and the only “widespread” way to use the internet through something that isn’t a PC is a PDA or PSP, both of which have browsers that are okay at best. Now you can surf the web on a big screen for the first time, the Wii remote works well for web browsing, and you can even play some lower-end Flash games if they’re exclusively mouse-based. On top of all that, having a console that can do more than just play games is a great new novelty.

2024 (or even 2017) : Everyone has a web browser in their pocket at all times that’s much more effective than anything a console could ever hope to offer, you can connect your phone to a big screen through screen mirroring, and all the major video platforms have dedicated consoles apps or, at the very least, apps that are built right into your TV and/or phone. On top of all this, web browsers are now known to be a common entry point for unofficial exploits that lead to piracy.

Exactly. I feel that console browsers now are novelties at best, cumbersome at worse.

PS1 games use CDs, correct? CD/DVD playback for consoles that use those optical medias is a byproduct from their disc drives. I'm not an engineer, but I suspect that the firmware on those consoles can recognize their respective games and a standard optical disc. There's more practical use for CD/DVD playback on consoles with the examples you listed.

Now, I feel like I'm contradicting my earlier point with Internet browsers on Internet capable consoles. If there's Internet, why not access the web?

I'd say before 2017, more specifically 2015. Stuff like Apple TV and Amazon Prime became huge during that year and were selling like wildfire in electronic stores such as Best Buy, as well as both Walmart and Target

So many times i have to repeat this saying but i will say it, none the less.

Look how they massacred my girl.

just look at her! they cover up her entire body so she cant be "objectified". they even took away her cute Scarf. HER EYES ARE NOT EVEN RED FFS!

was not enough they gutted Sony studio japan after their move to California, they had to spit on their grave one last time to remind us, that we not allowed to have anything good in life.

what could have been...

I really like Dead Rising. It's a very popular series with wide appeal. One day, I heard about this film:

Aaaaaaaaaaaand I didn't care. It looks fine. The protagonist and that girl don't look out of place, and the guy is holding a saw-pipe thing, which is on brand for Dead Rising. Looks like a cheap zombie slasher film. I never watched it, and don't tend to think about it when I look at my Dead Rising games.

Years later, and we have this:
Gravity Rush is really niche. It started out as a PSVita exclusive, and eventually got both a rerelease and a sequel on PS4. I don't think a lot of people played it. Now we're looking at a movie with another ugly protagonist. Who is this even for? Are they expecting to make money? Is this one of those kinds of movies where they film it in a place where they can rake in so much in grant money, they just produce it as cheaply as possible and then pop it onto whatever streaming service will take it?

That's gotta be it, right? Who wants a Gravity Rush movie that looks like... that?

In any case the source is from this video on the Sony - Global channel. Here's an saved archive below:

Patapon - Sony Global.png
They also show a new Patapon game in the same video, but it should be reminded that the actual developers of the original games have founded their own studio and currently making a spiritual successor called Ratatan (Twitter, Youtube channel) which will be available on all current platforms.

Pretty much all the key members of Japan Studio either created their own studios or now work under Nintendo / Monolith.

I think an anime or CGI movie that's in the art style of gravity rush would of been better than live action, I don't understand why video game movies keep doing this, Sony did it with the Ratchet and Clanks movie so why not something like that for gravity rush?

My nostalgia makes me like console boot screens, but I kinda agree. There is something nice about just going straight into a game. I kinda lose my interest quickly nowadays, so by time the game gets going sometimes I don't care to play anymore.

This could only be salvageable if they port GR 1 + 2 to PC to coincide with this.....abomination.
Monkey paw, they release them to PC but updated with this new character design.
