I think a game based on Captain Falcon's bounty-hunting career set in the F-Zero universe would be a really fun direction for them to go in.
Nintendo: "But we already have Metroid."

At this point I don’t think I believe the “it was just legal issues” theory anymore. It’s most likely was just Nintendo of America not thinking it was worth the effort, which kinda seemed like a trend for NOA during that period.
I've always liked to believe that Reggie just thought Earthbound was really fucking stupid

Either that, or he just got so annoyed by spergs asking him about Mother 3 that he just started fucking with them out of spite.

Nintendo said they don't want to bring it back because Mario Kart already fulfills the racing genre,
I thought they said something about a controller?

F-Zero is different enough from Mario Kart that they can co-exist. I have no real interest in Mario Kart but if they made an F-Zero I might open up the wallet. And make a new Wave Race 64 or just re-release a hacked-up Wave Race 64 with more maps.

I agree, but it will never happen because the majority of Nintendo users are not looking for that experience I think.

If they were, Fast RMX would have sold more.
I don't believe any F-Zero was a flop, some did pretty well. I don't think it could be one of their big hitters that gets constant releases, but it should be able to perform adequately if one released now.

RMX has a crap name and no Nintendo charm, and as far as I can tell still did okay. If that can, I see no reason F-Zero wouldn't.

Yeah, F-Zero had that Nintendo charm that nothing else like it ever had. Wipeout's certainly no replacement.

Hell, I'd love to see an HD remaster of F-Zero AX show up at Dave & Busters and Round 1. That game came out at a time when hardly anyone got to play it, right before those huge arcade chains got huge and after most independent ones shut down. And it cost a fortune.

I think I remember hearing that GX had the arcade version's exclusive content locked away in the disc, accessible via hacking or whatever. I suppose they could just remaster that with all the content unlocked, and give it online.

You know, speaking of Nintendo arcade games, the only one I remember seeing aside from the classics like Donkey Kong is the Luigi's Mansion one. Apparently there's a Mario Kart too. These should all be available under like an "Arcades Classics" line or something.

TCRF talks all about it. I think the whole proper arcade version is on GX's disc.

Yeah, Luigi's Mansion came out sometime in the mid 2010s and uses a vacuum controller that's essentially an elaborate Wii remote. Mario Kart Arcade GP's pretty common. Who knows if they'll ever release them for a home console.

Hasn't Nintendo shopped an F-Zero game around and nobody has bit at taking a stab at it.

It does need to be remembered that Nintendo didn't even develop GX and AX, that was Sega. Would Nintendo even be capable of making an F-Zero game that would live up to that pedigree?

Edit: Shit, I forgot this is the Sony hate thread. To stay on topic Sony still sucks ass.

All of the AX racers are completely unlockable through normal gameplay by completing levels in the story mode on hard. The problem is that story mode, much like the rest of the game, is HARD AS BALLS. Its actually harder than normal racing under even the best conditions. I mean, F-Zero GX was just a hard game period.

F-Zero still has a dedicated fanbase till this day, despite having not gotten a new title in over ten years, and its probably one of Nintendo's most requested titles for a sequel. All of the F-Zero clones can't say the same. They also, as other's have said, lack the Nintendo charm, and don't really play as well as F-Zero does. F-Zero really was the top of its genre, same as Mario and Zelda were the top of theirs, and it makes no sense for Nintendo to have functionally abandoned a market they were largely dominating, and right before online would have changed everything. That little F-Zero mobile game Nintendo recently released was a Smash hit, so there is definitely still an audience for it.

It is known that Nintendo specifically approached Criterion Games about making an F-Zero title, but they were too busy with Need For Speed: Most Wanted to take them up on it.

It is so pity SONY is great at making phones, cameras, audio equipment but their entertainment division sucks.
SONY should revive the glorious days of PS1-PS3 PS2.
I don't think it can happen, they're too far gone. If the western branches were purged maybe it could, but there's no way the japs don't know what's going on so they're fine with it. Sony is just dead.

Best outcome is Xbox kills Sony and Nintendo & Xbox split the corpse. Nintendo could really use their stuff like Ape Escape while Xbox would probably be interested in their gay retarded shit.

I actually just finish replaying Until Dawn. Game still holds up after 8 years. I see that they got the director from Lights Out (2016) for the upcoming adaptation. I really like that horror movie so maybe this movie will turn out decent? The GT movie seem to have gotten decent reviews so maybe we will get a fun video game adapt flick? The thing is though, Until Dawn is already a movie. Well an interactive movie at least. I dont see why they should make a movie adapatation. Unless if they change the story and characters. It would be funny if they got Rami to play Josh again. Use an Oscar winner to promote ur film.

I don't know if I'm ready to declare Sony dead quite yet, but it's not looking good at all. Its been a looooong time since the PS5 launched, and PS4 games are still rolling out like it's current. Hi-Fi Rush isn't even getting a bespoke PS5 version. It's coming to PS4. A console that's 11 years old now. That's like the N64 getting a release alongside Assassin's Creed and Portal.

Even if they had waited until today to launch the PS5, and all exclusives for it were delayed until they could be launch titles, the launch would still be weak. There'd probably be a lot of hype surrounding Final Fantasy XVI and Forespoken, focusing more on how Square-Enix was releasing two AAAs at once, while overlooking their quality.

I see. Yeah, even the SNES one was tough but GX took it up a notch or 10.

That's pretty damning lmao

They can't be that great since they've exited so many other markets. Sony doesn't exactly put great leadership at the head of their other divisions. Their primary focus and their best talent goes to PlayStation, behind that is optical sensors for cameras. Their anime division is a literal monopoly that they bought the market dominance of a while back but I guess since its just distribution and localization for America as opposed to creation they aren't technically a monopoly. Who knows. Their movie division has been hit or miss. Their appliance division is gone except for TVs and they aren't even a market leader in that. They are trailing behind Samsung, LG, Vizio, etc. Audio? Bro, everybody uses their phones now with wireless earbuds, who is buying audio equipment in 2024?

If Sony was still a recognizable brand with market share in other industries they might have the capital to do more but they didn't and they don't. Their entertainment is all they have left.

Sony makes laptops and phones, though I've never seen anyone use either. I know their phones are overpriced with just worse hardware than what you can get from Samsung or Google.

I thought their two primary revenue sources where PlayStation and Sony music. Then again, that was before Sony started buying up anime distributors and creating a monopoly of sorts. So perhaps a lot has changed since then.
