I'd say an even better run than Sonic, who ranks pretty highly in that regard too, due to having more consistently good games despite less output.
Deeeefinitely better than Sonic. Yes, the hedgehog still gets games today, but they are... inconsistent.
Dear dipshit, I don't even own a PS5, Switch only here.
Could have fooled me with how much defense you run for Soyny. Is it just a larp then or do you get possesed by the ghost of Marissa Moira at random intervals?

True, but it's the only other successful classic franchise still going that I can think of. Sonic is on a bit of streak currently too, no bad games since Frontiers, just mediocre or good. Low bar there though lol

He's just a bit of a contrarian at times.

I swear by their MP3 player. Simple interface, great battery life, good storage. Why would I use my phone like a retard when I can use a dedicated machine that works well?
Sometimes it's good to have a device dedicated to a particular function, but having something with additional functionality is usually pretty convenient.

I have to be, I hate lazy retards who parrot eachother for stickers.
I don't mind, it makes discussion more interesting.

God bless that recent collection.
I hope it leads to a Star Force collection next.

What are you talking about? There are a ton of 1991 and earlier franchises that are still going strong today. There’s probably 10 from Nintendo alone.

There have only been two mainline games since Frontiers (Origins and Superstars), and they were both bad.

There was also Dream Team for Apple Arcade. All three titles averaged 7's, which for a franchise with 5's in its recent history is not only a step in the right direction but also refreshingly consistent for a change.

even Team Sonic Racing was bad, which was a real shame because Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed is the only other kart racer to even compete with Mario Kart. Sonic's just a cursed franchise

I doubt there's 10 still "going strong" by Nintendo from then. Mario, Zelda, Fire Emblem, and maybe Metroid but it's had significant downtime and duds, so it's debatable. And that's about it.

I guess it depends on how you define "successful"/"going strong", I barely even counted Sonic itself, and wouldn't personally consider something like Final Fantasy to be doing well despite still existing. Dragon Quest would count, there's another one for the list. There's really not a ton though.

If we're only talking mainline games then the list narrows even further, and Final Fantasy is definitely kept off the list now lol

I can't believe they managed to fuck that up. That's an impressive degree of incompetence.

The only good ones there are Vita, Wii U, Saturn, and Dreamcast. Neo Geo Pocket Color is borderline, but I like it.

I wish 64DD was a success, same for the Nintendo Playstation. Those two are some of the biggest divergences in gaming; so many cancelled, downsized, and otherwise altered games just because they didn't pan out. Earthbound 64 and Chrono Trigger are some of the bigger examples.

Nuon was an extra feature hidden in random DVD players. Games for it are rare and expensive as hell. It's really hard to pinpoint any sale numbers because it's just a random smattering of assorted models of DVD players.

Stadia would go by how many controllers were sold, I figure, even though you could sync Xbox and PS4 controllers to it. The Chromecast Ultra you needed for it was just a model of Chromecast that can do 4k.

Gizmondo was tied to some kind of crime scheme, and they never even released the ad-free models, lol. The ad-supported ones also never actually got any ads to display, ironically keeping them ad-free by default.

HyperScan wasn't even sold in the electronics department, it was sold in the toy section. Hell, I remember seeing it and just feeling bad for the poor kids who wound up getting one instead of, like, a Wii or even an older game system.

Atari Lynx isn't bad. Download the romset and check it out in emulation on your favorite handheld sometime.

I also like the Atari jaguar, at least I do these days due to the homebrew community that it has. A lot of impressive games for it have been made to due to homebrewers.

I also don't mind the Atari VCS, even though I'm probably one of the few people in the world to own one lol.

In a vacuum I suppose it's not, especially if you like arcade-style games, supposedly people really like Klax a lot. I guess that's like its Tetris. For 1989 it's pretty impressive hardware.

I had the games on my Vita and couldn't find a single game worth finishing, personally. It was still fun enough going through the games list, just checking them out. There's some interesting curiosities like a weird version of Ninja Gaiden and a half-decent game called Scrapyard Dog.

But man, I honestly have more fun with the Pokemon Mini's tiny set of games. Pokemon Race, Togepi's Great Adventure, and Pokemon Tetris are legitimately fun. There's a cool Japanese exclusive Tamagotchi-type game too called Pokemon Breeder, which I of course have no idea how to play, but it's cute as hell.

The Jaguar is interesting to me as a retro game nerd, but its library is pretty damn depressing. Whoever got stuck with that as a kid instead of a PlayStation has my condolences.

I haven't seen the homebrew though, I do bet there's some neat things. Homebrew is a rabbit hole I'm afraid to really go down, like Japanese PCs, I've already got more than I could ever really play.
