As much as I hate Snoy, this State of Play shit actually presented some interesting games. I attached a link leading to the trailers to make your life easier because I have nothing better to do.
Sony X Shadow Generations - That's right! Sega's best and brightest at the Sonic Team is working on another banger. After the success of Sonic Frontiers is there a reason not to continue? And it's even going to bring back stages from the classic PS2 title, Shadow the Hedhehog? That's a done deal.
Foamstars - PlayStation's Splatoon is going free-to-play for PS plus members because no one's playing that shit lmao.
Dave the Diver X Dredge - DLC for the Reddit diving game.
V Rising - Top-down vampire survival game some hack and slash. SLOP!
Silent Hill: The Short Message - Silent Hill PT with a wholesome diverse female protagonist.
Death Stranding 2 - More Death Stranding since the last game sold so well (not). Also it has hecking pupperinos in it.
Metro Awakening VR - VR slop.
Legendary Tales - VR slop.
Until Dawn Remaster - Remaster of a movie game because Sony wants to do a TV show of it.
Helldivers 2 - Finally, a real game! The PS4 classic reimagined in third person. This will probably be a better Starship Troopers game than the actual Starship Troopers game. It drops next week!
Rise of the Ronin - Team Ninja is done copying Dark Souls. The combat they showed off in this new Ronin trailer looks very reminiscent of their classic Ninja Gaiden games for the Xbox. Unlike that Ghost of Tsushima horseshit, they're not afraid to make their combat overly blood and gorey. That's something I appreciate in this sterila era of gaming.
Dragon's Dogma 2 - This trailer showed off how Capcom aims to blend classes together. I thought the variety in the combat looked pretty impressive.
Judas - I have no idea why I put this in the good games list but I'm too lazy to change it. Ken Levine is a hack and he's been mismanaging his new studio like he was mismanaging the Bioshock studio. This game will probably suck.
Silent Hill 2 - This game is not being developed by Konami so don't let The Short Message concern you. They've improved the graphics without trampling over the original game's style. The over-the-shoulder camera angle from the Resident Evil remakes makes a return.
Stellar Blade - I see no reason why PlatinumGames fans won't enjoy this one. YouTube already age-rated the trailer for being too sexual (something they neglected to do for Cyberpunk) so we're off to a good start here.
Overall, I'd say we got more good games than I was anticipating. Looks like Sony is finally back to publishing games, something they haven't done for the entirety of this console generation. Right now I think this year might be good for gaming but expect me to completely change my outlook on 2024 if Helldivers 2 sucks.
