It would be better if they just had a direct sequel to MGS2 picking up immediately at the end.

The real problem was MGS3 was an unnecessary step back in every way from MGS2, and MGS4, as you pointed out, just avoided one of the major parts people did care about. MGS4 was a mess because of the existence of MGS3 and the retcons MGS4 introduced.

I feel like MGS 2 and 3 would have been better if they had been flipped and 3 had come out before 2. That way we could actually find out about guys like Zero and the Patriots and it wouldn't feel like it comes out of nowhere in MGS4.

Who's even looking forward to FF7 Rebirth? FF7 Remake sucked. I didn't even get close to the halfway point.

FF7 Remake sucked and Afterbirth will suck just as much.

I still haven't played Remake, but I'm totally looking forward to whatever dumb shit they retcon in the next one. Personally can't wait until they save Aerith or something and really piss and shit all over the corpse of FFVII.

Maybe I'm just a faggot, but in an age of entertainment where everything is dominated by multiverses and shit so death becomes absolutely meaningless, it kind of makes me appreciate it when older media actually did fucking kill people off.
Multiverse writing is cancerous.

I know it sounds hyperbolic to call something cancer, but the whole thing really does act like cancer. It's everywhere, and seemingly unstoppable. It's a killer for any franchise because it eliminates all stakes. A character can take a risk, and do outrageous stuff you'd never dream of in real life, and you know things will be fine no matter what. Our protagonist jumped off of a building to save a falling baby, but splats himself on the ground and the baby's fine? That's okay, just drop another one in from the next universe over.

Final Fantasy VII was the first game I had ever played where a main character died permanently for the story's sake. That was impactful. It was a very meaningful death that drove home just how horrible Sephiroth is, and they did such a great job building up Aeris' character. I can't really think of very many other games where such a tragic, permanent death took place. Telltale's The Walking Dead comes to mind, but I wouldn't blame you if you don't count that as a game. What happens is Lee dies right at the end, and the buildup is very tragic, as he says his goodbyes to Clementine, who's going to be left alone in this cold and harsh world. But it's right at the end of the game, so you don't really have that hanging over you the whole time, like you do in FF7. Final Fantasy V has Galuf's death, but they just drop Cara right into your party, and she perfectly inherits all his skills and levels. It's a major plot device, but the impact doesn't even come close to Aeris' death..

I dunno, man. Feels like one of those clown world things. When even the general notion of modern storytelling all comes down to a lot of the samey same shit, all designed around coddling the feelings of oversensitive faggots who can't bear witnessing the permanent demise of someone, then, like, fuck it, I'm checking out of that gay shit.

As much as I hate Snoy, this State of Play shit actually presented some interesting games. I attached a link leading to the trailers to make your life easier because I have nothing better to do.

Sony X Shadow Generations - That's right! Sega's best and brightest at the Sonic Team is working on another banger. After the success of Sonic Frontiers is there a reason not to continue? And it's even going to bring back stages from the classic PS2 title, Shadow the Hedhehog? That's a done deal.
Foamstars - PlayStation's Splatoon is going free-to-play for PS plus members because no one's playing that shit lmao.
Dave the Diver X Dredge - DLC for the Reddit diving game.
V Rising - Top-down vampire survival game some hack and slash. SLOP!
Silent Hill: The Short Message - Silent Hill PT with a wholesome diverse female protagonist.
Death Stranding 2 - More Death Stranding since the last game sold so well (not). Also it has hecking pupperinos in it.
Metro Awakening VR - VR slop.
Legendary Tales - VR slop.
Until Dawn Remaster - Remaster of a movie game because Sony wants to do a TV show of it.

Helldivers 2 - Finally, a real game! The PS4 classic reimagined in third person. This will probably be a better Starship Troopers game than the actual Starship Troopers game. It drops next week!
Rise of the Ronin - Team Ninja is done copying Dark Souls. The combat they showed off in this new Ronin trailer looks very reminiscent of their classic Ninja Gaiden games for the Xbox. Unlike that Ghost of Tsushima horseshit, they're not afraid to make their combat overly blood and gorey. That's something I appreciate in this sterila era of gaming.
Dragon's Dogma 2 - This trailer showed off how Capcom aims to blend classes together. I thought the variety in the combat looked pretty impressive.
Judas - I have no idea why I put this in the good games list but I'm too lazy to change it. Ken Levine is a hack and he's been mismanaging his new studio like he was mismanaging the Bioshock studio. This game will probably suck.
Silent Hill 2 - This game is not being developed by Konami so don't let The Short Message concern you. They've improved the graphics without trampling over the original game's style. The over-the-shoulder camera angle from the Resident Evil remakes makes a return.
Stellar Blade - I see no reason why PlatinumGames fans won't enjoy this one. YouTube already age-rated the trailer for being too sexual (something they neglected to do for Cyberpunk) so we're off to a good start here.

Overall, I'd say we got more good games than I was anticipating. Looks like Sony is finally back to publishing games, something they haven't done for the entirety of this console generation. Right now I think this year might be good for gaming but expect me to completely change my outlook on 2024 if Helldivers 2 sucks.

State of Play wasn't bad, but outside Helldivers 2 and Until Dawn it was all 3rd party made games even if Sony is publishing them, nothing from their first party studios. Last year all Sony had first party studio wise was VR shit and Spiderman 2, year before that was all cross gen games, it's a sad state.

Nice seeing Until Dawn getting a PS5/PC remaster, hope this is a sign Sony will be doing more of their older back catalog. Would love to see PS3 games get that treatment, or least The Last Guardian for PS4 games.

Playstation first came out in 1994, think they would be planning for this to be a huge year in terms of games, but so far no sign of that. Ape Escape turn 25 years old and Killzone 20, what a great time to make a collection of those games or hell just big name sony ips in general to celebrate the 30th year of PlayStation if they can't get new games out in time.

I hope I get to work for Admiral Matthew Perry. Way of the Samurai let you work for anybody if you wanted to.

Rise of the Ronin looks like a (very fun) PS3 game. Stellar Blade also looks nice. Must we rely on the Koreans to make our JRPGs now, with Japanese gaming so thoroughly infected with westernism?

Yeah I've seen some people bitch about the graphics. Those people can go choke on Cuckmann's dick till they get his new overproduced slop game 5 years later. Fancy graphics only inflate the budget and delay the release date.

The reason why they're prevalent in Western games is because they use them to disguise the lack of gameplay and the shitty writing.

Western AAA and journos decided to tell Japan that they need to support DA MESSAGE... or else. Apparently colonizing other nations with ideas is what progressiveness is all about.

That's a good thing. Do you really want another Spider-Man 2?

Yes, in fact. They straight up hate western ideology garbage. They will fire them if they can. Based Koreans

I love how it's just "they fired us because we're feminist" but they never tell you that the stuff the organization in question does makes ours look like tame kittens.

I'm not kidding, Megalia and WOMAD had entire forums dedicated to talking about sick fantasies they had about inflicting on small boys. One actually got arrested in Australia for raping an underaged boy after bragging about it on their site, like pegging if I remember right, but Australia let her flee back to Korea because they're idiots. Not sure they ever extradited her. Anyways, if you're associated with that group you should be fired and blacklisted. They're like /r9k/ on steroids.

For AAA tier stuff, it's looking that way.

Maybe for now, but wasn't long ago at all that the "based japs won't ever bend the knee" crowd were so sure. All will suck the girldick.

It appears that with Gran Turismo Sport's server shutdown, the livery editor no longer being available means you can't even change the paint color on your cars, or the color of your wheels, at all. To think that you can still change the car color, livery, in older Forza games, i.e. Forza Horizon 3 (released 2016, delisted in 2020), and Forza Motorsport 7 (released 2017, in the same year as GT Sport, delisted in 2021), but you can't do that in GT Sport, given that changing paint color was a feature in past GT games too, really hammered how hard PD went with the "Always Online" deal that GT games will have from now on.

The other oddity is that AI cars in GT League races can still have custom liveries, and yet you can't use custom liveries on your cars anymore.

Also, the Mileage Store no longer being available, means that those cars that can be purchased from it, are no longer obtainable.

Here's a video that shows the remaining available features in GT Sport, post-server shutdown:

The Sony normies I know IRL who hype up the console and games, always talk about how good the game looks, how amazing the graphics are and how real the world appears. Yet, when pressed on specifics of the game, they rarely play or progress more than a couple of hours into the game.

"Spiderman 2 is amazing, it looks so good, best graphix eva",
"What's the mid-game like"
"Oh, I don't know, I've only played it for a few hours. Well worth seventy (!!!) bucks though, i'll support sony because they make good games".

"Horizon 2 is amazing, it looks so good, best graphix eva"
"Yeah it does look amazing for a console game and the world looks so alive. What's it like in the mid-game when you get upgrades to your kit?"
"I haven't played it that far. Still, well worth seventy (!!!) bucks though..."

GO WATCH A FUCKING MOVIE. Jesus tap-dancing Christ.
