Sony hate thread

Steamdecks are multiplying into legion.
So what games have Nintendo make specifically for the Steam Deck? They're the monopoly cause they made the new hardware and games for that hardware. The Steamdeck is far more powerful than the switch with a must vaster library but Nintendo won't make games specifically for it cause they have the Switch.

They're the monopoly cause they made the new hardware and games for that hardware.
Then they're not a monopoly in the handheld space, they run game studios that don't port to other platforms.

They could make arcade cabinets with 180p CRT's for their games, that wouldn't make them an arcade cabinet monopoly.

The great thing with this is it shows the power the PC market has (it is the reason HD2 is as big as it is as well) when it goes against something like it just has.

Console base doesn't have big enough numbers (or care/control) to orchestrate something on this scale. Same with what happened with War Thunder, but Sony has been hated for a long time for good reason.
I think Valve deserves some credit for being willing to issue refunds after a substantial period of time over Sony’s business practices. They’re one of the only companies left that’s still run by an Internet pioneer. The fact that it’s privately held rather than publicly traded I think also has something to do with it.

Sony has decided to backtrack on the PSN account requirement to play Helldivers 2 on PC:

And even though the negative reviews played a part at this change of heart (?), it also goes to show how shitty Blizzard has gotten, since Overwatch 2 is still THE lowest rated game on Steam, and that game wasn't improved even with the low ratings.
I believe the sole non-ironic reason why they did this was because people had a legitimate cause to sue them and cause they were caught in the act changing EULA-terms with multiple discrepancies being found in their FAQ's and support and they would not want that kind of lawsuit with the possible skeletons it might pull out of the closet.

I highly doubt they were at all bothered by the review bombs and dogpiling.

On June, when they add the gay shit, I'll teamkill people that use the gay cosmetics in the most subtle way possible, backblasting them with the recoilless rifle.
InB4 excessive fragging of "Pride" skinned players gets you auto-banned for transphobia, and put on a gov list for "extremism".
And yet, I won't take back my refund request.

Fool me once, fuck you. Give me back my money.

They tarnished Arrowhead's reputation and their own even further.
This is what the apologists and fair-weather protesters don't comprehend. A minor dip in sales/profit is nothing to these companies. They know most of their niggercattle will come crawling back for a 12 pack of Bud Light if they parade around the Clydesdales in a patriotic commercial, or the latest release of Call Of Duty 37.5 Part 2 V3.0: Gamergates Revenge if they throw in a couple of free "skins". Only for them to sneak the same shit in later wrapped up in fancier wording and touted as a "benefit". They expect that at this point. The only lessons that any of these companies ever learn from is long-term reputational damage and profit loss. Everything is money to them. It's only when the shareholders come barking is when they start to "care".
Yes, consolefags are gay, and tribalist consolefags are double-triple-gay
Nah, you just don't understand the power of Blast Processing, and that SEGA does what NintenDONT!
And its literally irrelevant. Have you paid attention to the game industry over the past seven years? Nintendo dominate both console and game sales in every market, and practically own Japan. Its not even close. They are the dominators of video games, not the two "loss losers".
And that's what these console makers and developers seem to have forgotten. They've been in a graphical arms-race for decades now, at the expense of basic fundamentals, when the average gamer really doesn't care thet much. Nobody cares that your PS5+- or Xbox720X3One! can render photorealistic 5 o'clock shadows at 150 yards away from the troon hero of the latest AAA shovelware title. They just want a fun, entertaining game to play and escape reality for a while. That's why Nintendo is succeeding where the others are failing. Gimmicks like the WII shovelware titles and accessories, or VirtualBoy aside, they've always focused more on the fun factor compared to anything else, and they've been successful for decades because of it. Sure there was a time in the 90"s-2000's where they were getting their lunch ate by SEGA and Sony, but they kept on their same path for the most part. Yeah, they might get criticized for releasing a zillion different Mario or Zelda games for each successive console, but you know why they do it? Because they fucking sell, and they're, for the most part pretty good. It really is that simple.
In past generations, the previous gen would have already been relegated to the dustbin of history, but sales for the current gen consoles are so poor, and the buy-in so small, that Sony and Microsoft are afraid to cut the cord entirely for fear of alienating their remaining consumers. And game sales are still not where they want them, as proven by both companies releasing games on PC to try to further increase sales figures.
That's another issue where they backed themselves into a corner. Ironically, Sony played a huge part in this. PS2, the best selling console of all time, officially didn't end sales until 2013(!) A full 7 years after the PS3 was on the market. Whereas it used to be the norm for older generation consoles to be phased out within a couple of years at most when the next generation were released, it seems that the "last-gen" consoles hang on for extended periods of time long after the next-gen release. And I really can't blame people for not "upgrading" when the newest generation console comes out either. Backwards compatibility, another trait that was pioneered by Sony, while a boon for gamers is an anchor around the neck for themselves.

Also, what is the benefit of upgrading to the latest console in Current Year™️ anyway? More pozzed goyslop and forced online connectivity for meager graphics and hardware upgrades? A console upgrade used to actually mean something. A jump from a NES to a Genesis or SNES was a huge leap in technology and capabilities. And it seems like after the PS2 era, thst benefit has increasingly become more meaningless.

Another thing that you and others have touched on is console exclusivity. That is part of the romanticism and "mystique" that used to surround games. Especially during the Nintendo/SEGA wars in the 90s, you were more likely to see world peace and infinite clean energy than an official Mario release on the Genesis. Even today, while its not as prevalent with exclusive publishers, you'll not see a Zelda game on anything but Nintendo, or Gran Turismo on anything but PlayStation. But with the cross-platform releases and even cross-platform play available with many games nowadays, what difference does it make on which stickers and what color of shiny plastic your artificially hobbled PC-masquerafing-as-a-console is made out of?

It's only one game. They're actually far more likely to go under (or at least leave the hardware business) because of this market situation that's forcing them release all their games on PC in the first place.
Yes, this recent behavior gives me the impression that they want to try to shift over to just publishing/DRM before they completely go under, without realizing PC players are about as cooperative as the IRA (which is a good thing).

Too many companies are starting to think they're entitled to their customers and free to do whatever the fuck they please, rather than at their consumer's beck and call for providing a luxury that can easily be trimmed from someone's budget.

i mean, they kind of didn't have a choice, i'd think.

sony's retarded decision basically hurt everybody 'downstream', from the publisher DEVELOPER arrowhead studios, to steam/valve, to the actual consumers.

but especially steam/valve, because the only people who would have refunded their purchase would have been the people who bought the game on the PC, on steam, meaning that because of sony's stupid decision, they were getting hit with constant refund requests. i can't even imagine how much money valve lost because of sony's idiocy.

edit: retardedly confused developer and publisher for some reason?
