Sony hate thread

The 8k thing could be seen as false advertisement. Do you think that some one could sue them for advertising things the machine is not capable of?
They'd probably argue (successfully, knowing our retarded courts) that the console outputs a genuine 8k signal when connected to an 8k display and ergo it "supports" 8k, even if it can only run at 5fps when tasked with running a game.

Not sure. They removed it so that means they admit it could not realistically pull of what was advertised.

They should also remove 4k/120.
The hardware and software are capable of 4K 120Hz, even if nearly no games will actually max out both of those figures at once. It's reasonable to advertise it.
But it doesn't output 8K at all. The box had fine print basically saying "we'll add it later." They gave up, evidently.

Yeah maybe some flash game.

You sure? Didn't they do the same thing with the ps4 or some shit with 4k where it could output the OS at 4k but no real games?

IIRC the PlayStation 2 could output at 1080i, but I swear like, one or two games used it, tops.

oh okay so I looked it up and four games total did:
  • Jackass: The Game
  • Gran Turismo 4
  • Tourist Trophy (this is a 2006 motorcycle racing game)
  • Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria
The only game in that list to come out before any of the HD consoles was Gran Turismo 4, so that feature sure was squandered.

It is capable of outputting 1080i but the rest of the system isn't capable of sustaining buffers big enough for that. For GT4 (and Tourist Trophy which is just GT4 with motorcycles) it instead uses effectively 540p buffers with some effects disabled vs 480p.

I swear to god GT4 looks best at 480i, I'm pretty sure they're disabling effects to even do 480p.

On a CRT and running in 480i looks fantastic. I haven't noticed any missing effects, they did a great job with those modes.

There's a new update out for Astro's Playroom that adds a few new artifacts and also some hidden bots in the four worlds.

Why the fuck does the ps3 suffer from severe screen tearing, recently replayed REmake on the Ps3 and holy shit was the screen tearing rampant on the cutscenes, how the fuck did the wii port somehow manage to be better than the ps3 port? Even uncharted from what ive seen suffers from screen tearing and thats a first party title so i cant imagine how bad this problem is on third party titles.

There's a Wii port of the Resident Evil remake? That's interesting. Does it have anything exclusive?

Does it only happens with that game? Check with another one to be sure.

Mirrors edge is another one that would happen but the game was more subtle about it, but some games are a tearfest. I heard this has something to do with how the RSX chip is designed that leads to the issue with the screen tearing.

I onky noticedn it doing that with demanding games like MGSV and TLoU. Keep an eye on it and dust it at least every 6 months. Happy playing.
