Sony hate thread

New Astro Bot game looks great, but is it just that? Sony should be having multiple titles in the vein of this aka not open world, not GAAS, not cinematic and around 12 hours in length but they haven't had any since 2021 with Ratchet and Returnal.

It's telling if you look at Astro Bot vs Concord in reception, Concord is meant to be the big game for Sony this year, yet trailer is mostly dislikes vs Astro's very high like ratio on youtube and Astro was at the top of many most wanted lists. It's Sony core telling them what they want and what they don't want.

What is even funnier is Sony didn't buy the Helldivers 2 devs and that was unexpected hit for them in GAAS market, yet they did buy the Concord devs before the game was even shown and right now that seems like a huge mistake. Real question is once Concord flops, will Sony kill Firewalk Studios or allow them to pivot to making none GAAS trash.

Sony bought bungie for billions, bungie people left to set up firewalk and sony bought them too, they'll probably just set up another company that sony will spend billions buying again
I wonder how many times it can happen before they realize the studio shells and IP they're being left with are worthless or that they're being scammed. I dont think any of these teams actually give a shit about making a good game to begin with, they're entirely focused on their personal career advancement and extracting as much money from sony's corpse as they can before it sinks

I can't believe Snoy has not cancelled Marathon yet. That Tarkov shit skinwalking as an old Bungie IP is dead on arrival.

I haven't played around in a big boy SDK for a bit, but I wouldn't be surprised if compiling a PS4 game for PS5 is as simple as clicking a button.
It really is that easy. I'm reminded of this guy on Twitter who ripped apart his PS4 and somehow managed to get Spider-Man 2 running on it (which is one of the only PS5 exclusives now). I only wish he had explained how he accomplished this.

Yes, the game is stuttering a lot due to being force-loaded into a much less powerful system, but I think it shows it's not that fucking hard to port things from PS4 to 5 (or vice versa). This game absolutely could have run on the PS4 with a little more time spent optimizing it, and the guy who recorded this claims he was using a first-generation PS4, not one of the "Pro" models.

The original tweets are here, here, and here, but I'm just gonna mirror the videos under the spoiler.

The previous generation transitions were a graphical leap, this one was just a step. The future where a more powerful console = better performance as opposed to better graphics is fast approaching. Sadly, performance is less advertisement friendly and a bit of a harder sell to those not into computers. Console manufacturers better brace themselves and prepare.

Occam's razor: he didn't explain how he accomplished it because he didn't accomplish it. He's just playing the leaked dev build for Windows.
2 may not look much different from 1 at a glance, but it would absolutely not run on a PS4 without significant changes, nor ever run as well as it does in those videos. You're very gullible.

If this is real, it really makes Cyberpunk not running on base PS4's an even bigger deal IMO

Astrobot looks like a decent enough 7/10, LEAGUES ahead of anything else sony is doing, but that's just the thing, literally 100% of the buzz it's getting is solely because sony has NOTHING ELSE.

Sony had a history of basically asking ps3 versions of crossgen ps4 games to be sabotaged to promote ps4, so I could very well see it being the case here. Or, cyberbunk was just that poorly coded and optimized.

I mean, it was so bad that Sony delisted it from their storefront and offered refunds, so I doubt they had a hand in it.
