They'd be smart to release Rebirth on PS4 alongside PC later, but Sony might want to block that.
Considering how much money Square Enix lost from all their expensive, timed exclusive flops, they will go multiplatform and should Sony complain and demand exclusivity, the only platform they will skip will be the PlayStation.

It'd be amazing to see them go from ditching Nintendo for Sony and finally running back to Nintendo lol. It'd be like Forest Gump, getting your loose AIDS infested waifu crawling back after being used up.

Oh how the tables turn. Went from cartridges to discs... then back to cartridges.

some of them won't have it and say it's the best gen Sony have had :story:
We are in desperate need of a culling. I can't think of a single era in video games that was more lacklustre than the current one and i have been playing games all my life. I hardly even notice Sony as an entity this gen, they seem more irrelevant than Xbox these days and i never, ever cared for Microsoft's consoles, i can count on one hand how often i played on a 360.

I agree, even with PC gaming, as you still deal with mega bullshit season-passes, intrusive cash-shops and sign-in account linking, Denuvo, invasive/root-kernel anticheat and the whole "you will own nothing" mantra with steam.

It's 2024 and SEGA are putting out more good interesting games than Playstation and Xbox put together

Between the dozen or so horizon games coming out and concord and fairgame$, I wonder just how much sony has pissed away on Herman Hulst's nonsense

What pisses me off most with current day PC gaming is the neverending deluge of chink slop in the indie sector. One motherfucker has an idea and their game sells gang busters, cue weeks of copycat releases. See Vampire Survivors as an example, these Bullet Hell roguelites are the bane of my existance, absolute subhuman genre. I wish Gabe would ban chink devs from releasing on Steam, get your fucking own platform to shit up. Early Access abuse (read: barebones alpha-at-best releases that either die in developement or take three years to hit 1.0 status) is another big one for me. Current gen is cursed.

Ah these bodycam videos are a guilty pleasure of mine. Fucking amazing how stupid people can be.

>Cops already pissed at you for acting like a dickhead child in a store
>"I'm gonna shoot you!"
>Nature takes its fucking course
>Surprised Pikachu face
>"You can't say you're gonna shoot the police!"
>"I didn't say that!!!" [cries and whines like a little bitch]

The only downer about these videos is the ending, where inevitably despite their actions during the video, they're charged with minor misdemeanors that are either dropped entirely or result in harmless wrist slaps.

Former Playstation boss went on IGN to talk about why the Japan Studio died. (A)

EA Sports FC 25 was September’s best-selling video game in tracked spending, with double-digit percentage growth compared to EA Sports FC 24 during its Sep 2023 launch month. EA Sports FC 25 reached the highest US launch month dollar sales of any soccer game released to date.

Astro Bot ranked as the #2 best-selling game of the month, debuting as the 25th best-seller of 2024 year-to-date.

Xbox Series hardware spending dropped 54% year-on-year, with PS5 (-45%) and Switch (-23%) also showing sharp declines. YTD hardware spending is now 30% lower than a year ago, at $2.5 billion.

PlayStation 5 again led the month’s hardware market in unit and dollar sales, with Xbox Series ranking 2nd in dollars and Nintendo Switch #2 in units sold.

Xbox Series X consoles comprised 58% of total Xbox Series units sold in September, and account for the majority of Xbox Series units sold life-to-date (51%).

40% of total PlayStation 5 hardware unit sales in September came from Digital PS5 consoles. Digital consoles now comprise 18% of total life-to-date unit sales of PS5 hardware.

The PlayStation Portal was the best-selling accessory in dollar sales for both September and 2024 year-to-date. 3% of PlayStation 5 owners have purchased a PlayStation Portal to date.

Units :
1-PS5 : ~290.000 (60% PS5 + 40% DE)
2-NSW : ~160.000
3-X/S : ~140.000 (58% X + 42% S)

Revenue :
1-PS5 (-45%)
2-X/S (-54%)
3-NSW (-23%)

PS5 LTD : 82% PS5 + 18% DE
(with 3% of PS5 owners have purshased a PS Portal)

X/S LTD : 51% X + 49% S

YTD
  1. PS5 : ~3.080.000
  2. NSW : ~1.560.000
  3. X/S : ~1.500.000

US LTD
  • NSW : ~45.86M
  • PS5 : ~21.74M
  • X/S : ~14.97M
  • PS Portal : ~652.000

Not a crash, just a slow decline down hill. Mobile gaming carrying the heavy work in revenue for the industry while consoles die on their arse.

Like I and many others said during the ABK purchase, Microsoft was buying it for the K and AB was just a bonus. Looks like their investment will pay off.

#2 huh?

Meanwhile the only other games in that chart that released in September either:
  • didn't have their digital sales counted
  • NHL25 (the one sports game that doesn't print money)
  • Compilation of old games from the 90s
  • Remaster of Dead Rising that a lot of fans view as a downgrade
  • EA Sports FC 25 beating Astrobot
The fact that Sony still hasn't stated the total unit sales like they usually do is very telling

I want to know what the PS4 YTD revenue is, to see if it's higher than the PS5 or if the decline isn't as bad (-40%) as the PS5s

IDK if I should post this on the Spiderman thread, or here. Apparently, there's cope & seethe on the Soyderman subreddit about people using mods to remove the sheer fugly off the game, to the point they're acting authoritarian about how others play their single-player game, & they should be banned for playing it in the way they like.

Funniest part is, they aren't even mods, but AI edits. The game isn't out yet on PC, imagine when the actual mods came out.

Sources are kinda sketchy but apparently Sony was talking to Bethesda about making Starfield a PS5 exclusive before they were purchased by Microsoft, which apparently was the main reason why they bought them in the first place so they could keep the game off PS5. Sony was apparently so desperate not to lose the game that they were still trying to make Starfield a timed exclusive even after the acquisition.

Well they needed that game, or any other game...
