I'll never understand why Sony never got anywhere near as much shit about the YLOD issues for the early PS3s than Microsoft did for the RROD issues on the 360. At least MS extended the warranty to 3 years and got you a new console guaranteed for free. The unreliable $599 early PS3s you had to buy another if yours was out of warranty.

I guess the unreliable 90nm chip process was in use for a whole year longer for the 360 due to being out a year earlier. But both manufacturers made their consoles reliable enough by mid 2008ish.
There were a lot more Xbox 360s out there than PS3s, and a fair number of PS3s were sold for their Blu-ray player.

Sony's yearly report is out and reads like a slaughterhouse for PS5.
post it

this just looks like alpha graphics they hadnt ironed out yet and wouldve fixed later on (makes sense, the game is in fucking alpha)
I got bad news for you buddy, EVERY game now comes out as an alpha, and if the devs can be bothered, they might "fix it" down the line with updates. You're not getting anything that looks much better than that, altho looking at your posts it looks like you're one of those drooling consoomers who doesn't care as long as he gets his sloppa regularly.
More greedy digital deluxe editions and trash collector editions without the game is coming, try guess the price, if you dare...

Wolverine: Origins and Ultimate Spiderman still exist so why would anyone care? What are they going to do next, half-assed Hulk Ultimate Destruction? That already exists with that mediocre late 2000s movie tie-in.

The third and final FF7 remake installment will be third party and not exclusive to PS5, it will be launching on PC, Xbox and Switch 2.

I see the Sony fans melting down but none are asking how a game made in 2025 for the PS5 will run on Switch 2, which is supposed to be a souped-up PS4.

Which console will be the target console? Will PS5 be the superior version and it will be downscaled for Switch, or will SE use this free opportunity to get some hands of skills with Switch 2, making the PS5 version an AI upscaled glorified Switch 2 game?

Didn't Rebirth also do terribly, due to the bait and switch that this entire thing is basically just an "alternate universe sneakquel", as I've heard it described? Because I vaguely remember Square announcing they were killing their exclusivity shortly after Rebirth came out, in probably the only smart move they've made with FF7R...

And I'm assuming on file size alone that FF7R-3 - and I thought the 13 trilogy had retarded names - that the game'll largely be streamed as far as a Switch 2 version is concerned, but if it causes seethe from fanboys I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Fitting on a cartridge or even the console's built-in storage is not a requirement by Nintendo. Many shitty Switch 1 games already carry a notice on the packaging that you need a big enough SD card to play them.
If they can get the game to run, it'll be ported.

I remember the reason Square gave on why they killed the exclusivity deal with Playstation was that it was actively killing them and the sales from it weren't worth it.
Sonyggers have been seething about FF7R-1 coming to Switch 2 ever since it was announced. Every time they're reminded of it it makes them angrier. It gets even worse when they remember that RE9 is also coming to Switch 2. It's hilarious to see them shit themselves in impotent rage.

You would think they would be grateful with old Xbox scraps finally coming over like Gears of War and finally giving them actual video games to play. Hell, at the rate Bethesda is imploding on itself, we might actually see Starfield come to PS5/6 as well, wouldn't be the first time PlayStation got a belated release everyone already forgot about.

Oh, so they didn't learn jack shit.
• A full-length game starring Astro, a beloved character since PlayStation®4 (PS4®) generation, released to become a hit and win multiple Game of the Year awards, including at The Game Awards 2024 [G&NS]

It almost looks like people don't truly care about what sludge Sony vomits that they call first party games and only care if they can waste money on Fortnite and Roblox.

It’s interesting how Microsoft is finding it better to kinda-sorta move away from consoles and Nintendo would easily continue to thrive if they stopped making consoles and went third-party, but Sony would be absolutely devastated if they were cut off from getting 30% of everyone else’s revenue.

Xbox has always been a loser for MS. The division didn't have a profitable year until 08, then it went back to shoveling money into the furnace after the RRoD blowback the next year, then Kinect failing, then X1 failing, and now whatever you want to call this failed gen.

The trend has always been that the industry can support two consoles. Sega used to be #3 and died for it. There were a ton of pre-PS1 disc consoles fighting over #3, but none were relevant.

A game made on a franchise famous for over 5 years!!!
It's almost like nobody at Sony ever like or owned a Playstation.

I can't wait for the official spun-to-fuck, hardware numbers. PS5 sales must be well behind PS4 sales now.

Microsoft's own greed killed them. They went in hard with the first Xbox and early years of Xbox 360, signing off billions - Peter Moore once said he "wrote the most expensive cheque" in his history when he paid an extra $1 billion for Ram upgrades from 256mb to 512mb after seeing the comparison of Gears 1.

Then, around 2008, probably because of the crash, they threw out their gamers and suits-who-gamed-as-a-hobby to replace them with C-suite nobodies; Phil Spencer took over in the background and Don Rattrick was the face of it. They lost touch of what made them money and chased the 'line-go-up' philosophy of dumb fuck corporate america.

What followed was "fist bump" and the terrible Kinect showings. Another console iteration instead of focusing on the next generation of hardware because console sales were still high. MS learned a lesson from Blizzard; Don't make new shit while subs and DLC money is rolling in, but they failed to learn of the consequences of their actions.

Xbox could be turned around tomorrow and made the greatest games console of all time, with ease, but the suits at MS can't do it because they don't know how.

As much as I like shitting on PS5 sales figures, I do have a question about whether it’s completely fair to compare “PS4 game sales vs. PS5 game sales”. Some devs, especially indies, only make PS4/XB1 versions of their games because they don’t need the extra power and know they’ll run on the current system anyway. Even major releases like the MvC Arcade collection do this. A better metric would be something like “games bought on a PS4 vs. games bought on a PS5”.

I just meant console sales and the ratio.

But here's the thing, Sony no longer posters fresh PS4 figures, they only post the same numbers time and time again. Yet, where is the revenue from PS4 PSN and PS4 games going? It has to be counted somewhere, it's a legal requirement. So what line do Sony put that under?
PS5.

>the non-Nintendo console versions received a Mature 17+ rating
>the PS2 and PSP versions received a Teen rating

Huh?
Wouldn't be the first time something like this happened.

And in that instance Nintendo wound up having the more mature version.
