At best, there are 100 million xbox and ps5's in the wild.
Let's say they sell GTA6 for $99.
Let's say they sell to every console owner on the planet.
That's $1 billion. It cost $2 billion to make.
GG R*

In reality, there are around 85 million consoles, the game will sell for $79 and will sell maybe 30 million opening weekend meaning ~$350 million in sales.
Take Sony and Microsoft's 30% cut and...yikes, it's a bomba!

If the PC version is released alongside, or within 3 month of GTA6 launch, then it has underperformed according to estimates.
the optics is that they are making a lot of dosh with shark card sales to a point they still giving updates to GTA5 Online with a skeleton crew meanwhile RDR2 Online had the plug pulled eons ago.
and to play online you need PSPlus so they are probably banking on it, call me a schizo but i have a feeling plus might increase a tidbit because jeetsoft is fucking up goypass.

Here's the rub; every player that upgrades from GTAV to GTA6 is lost online revenue.
Maybe R* know this and they will launch GTA6 Online on the same day as GTA6,which will be funny because the servers will crash.

They will easily make another billion with Shark Cards, what are you talking about? That's their bread and butter now.
Anyways, how do you guys think Sony will go next generation with the non zero chance that Xbox is gonna die off soon?
Same as it is now: Overpriced software and hardware for subhuman consoomerist drones and woke movie games, zero exclusives and pathetic FPS all the while PS5 and maybe even PS4 still get their own games.

I've just been assuming GTA6 is going to be an always online "experience" for ages now, that way they can just tie the Shark cards into the single player game and try and milk everyone since that is all R* really care about anymore

What are you talking about?

How long will it take them to make another billion? A year? That's a loss.

And if they sell shark cards to the tune of 1 billion, they will have to eat in to the 1 billion/year profit from GTA5.

R* have to migrate over a userbase from their old game to their new one, while asking those customers buying the game to also buy sharkcards at the rate they bought them in GTA5:online, while starting from scratch.

And the catch? GTA6 online isn't rolling out on day one (Last i heard) which means every day that GTA6 isn't live, is a day that R* lose money from GTA5 shark cards.

The math doesn't math.

The math doesn't have to math, they think they can capture the lightning in the bottle twice even tho that didn't happen for RDR2. It's cope, that's all.

There is also this. What are you going to do, just NOT PLAY GTA 6 because it is online only? They can do whatever they want.

They will learn zero lessons and try to make another 20 live service slop games, they still haven't changed course and will die crying "Um akshually we made critically acclaimed single player titles like Intergalactic and you guys didn't buy them"

I've literally seen nothing from the story of Ghost of Yotei. I mean, I've seen everything but the story, but what is the main plot, generally speaking? All I keep seeing is "it's a basic revenge plot". What, let me guess, she was raped by a man and now wants to kill the man that did it?

79 times 30 million is 2370 million (or 2.37 billion). Hope this helps.

Skill issue on your part.

Not even Sucker Punch are stupid enough to stretch disbelief that far and imply anyone would willingly rape Dyke-sama.

No, the evil man kills her family so she goes and kills him and his henchmen.

Story ends with her and some other woman raising another man's child.

Once again, you know consoles are in a bad place when ONE GAME may be make or break for them.
I doubt GTA 6 alone can move enough console units to dig Sony and Jeetsoft out of the hole they've dug for themselves.

Also, they're all banking on the game being the single best selling entertainment product in the history of the human race, and there is no guarantee that will happen since there's so many things that can go wrong.

What if the game is buggy at launch, or has issues with framerate? What if R* manages to make the writing too obnoxious for a large enough percentage of the target audience? What if the gameplay feels stale after 10+ years of people playing GTA V, and nearly 30 years of open world games and a lack of innovation?

The game doesn't even need to be a catastrophic failure, it just needs to suffer enough cuts to not achieve the gargantuan sale numbers needed to justify the obscene budget.

This is getting ridiculous, October is the spooky month and not pride month Sony!
