See the little 8 next to hardware? Sony specify that these numbers are based on Sell-in. Which means they just filled their warehouses to the max and called it a day.
It would be interesting to find out how many PS5's are manufactured per year because a lot must be sat on shelves.
This makes sense because they filled their warehouses to the brim in order to get ahead of potential tariffs and RAM price hikes. They're gambling on having enough consoles stockpiled to be able to sell through the end of 2026 without price hikes.

My prediction is it will great to get if you don't have a PC, dumb if you do already. It's going to be for those that still think building one yourself or even picking a pre-built out is some arcane magic.
There are a surprisingly large number of people who want to play PC-only indie stuff but are too scared to deal with a PC. I don't know how you can remain gainfully employed in 2026 without knowing how to use a PC but apparently such people exist in large numbers.

I never thought of that, excellent point. I hope it's true because it means Sony will have to either not publish any new numbers for a year, or ship expensive consoles into the warehouses to collect dust (very expensive) just to keep up the facade that they've sold 92 million consoles.

R* CEO believes there are 138 million current gen consoles on the market. Someone has been lying to him.

is anyone here gonna get the steam machine or we all agree it's a gimmick?
I'm getting it if it's around $600 or cheaper and actually decent.

It servers zero purpose if you have a semi-decent gaming PC. I understand why it exists. It's bridge for console gamers to get into PC gaming with a easy to use game box like a console.
I see it as a great living room console alternative. PCs are great and all, but I'm not taking my giant rectangular monster of a pc to connect to the living room tv so I can play some couch coop slop with my friends and family.
A living room shitbox is the only reason why I was still buying modern consoles on current year, if Gaben can get me to abandon consoles for good, then I'll see it as a worthwhile product.

Hopes? None.

And the other half devoted to games that will also have PC versions that run better.
And none of those games will be games that anyone would like to play, like the Gravity Rush duology or Bloodborne (no I'm not at all still salty about Gravity Rush in particular, why do you ask?)

Who is watching the SOP tomorrow? It's always a good laugh to laugh at the retardation of sony when the sentiment is shared online.

Definitely me, with my ps5 i have made a bad buy back then.
I bolstered my steam library with heavy discounted games. I mean some where for 4$ or less.
Will wait and see what price it'll be.

The worst consequence of Unreal isn't that it's built by and for jeet mongoloids (but I repeat myself) who couldn't program a remote to save their lives, much less a game, but the ultra-low price of 5% of revenue and the asset store which made any tard with a computer able to make an asset flip and sell to other retards and be able to make a profit with four digit sales figures.

That's what Sunshine/Moonlight streaming is for and you don't need a beefy machine.
