Sony may release their ps-handheld between now and 28/29 before dropping the PS6 console. That stop-gap might buy them time for the price to become reasonable, or make the PS6 'better' as a purchase if you own the handheld.

Very disappointing state of play, like every year I was hoping for Bloodborne only to be cucked yet again. It's all so tiresome bros.

The handheld is just an alternate model of ps6, weaker, but it doesn't need to output at the same resolution, not a completely separate product line, and according to all leaks, was planned to launch a year or more AFTER the base ps6 model.

It is a completely separate product line, in every sense of the word.
Rumours out today are saying the PS6 will be 28/29. I can see the handheld coming before the console because Sony are getting decimated by S2, especially in Japan.

January sales figures were released (not confirmed just early leaks) and the global gaming industry is on a down turn and the PS5 is losing major ground to S2. Sony need a new product out but a full console is too much cost at the moment.

Perhaps handheld RAM is cheaper than console RAM, especially if Sony can bulk buy an 'off-the-shelf' part and tweak it.

The other consideration is Mark Cerny. He's almost retired and said the PS6 will be his last console. Will he hang about for another year or two?
They'll try, yes, but it needs initial record-shattering sales to get an installed player base big enough to keep it alive with "micro"transactions compared to GTA5's.
With the delay, they're up to about $2.5 billion in costs. If they sell GTA6 at $70, they need to sell roughly 36 million units to break even.

GTA5 has 100,000 current daily users on PC alone. Combined with console, they generate $1 billion a year.

If all of the players playing GTA5 now are part of the 36million people who buy GTA6, then R* has lost $1 billion a year in revenue. R* then have to sell 50 million units to break even, not including the money they kick to Sony.

There are, at best, 100 million Xbox/PS5's in the wild. R* need a 50% adoption rate as soon as possible just to break even. Not impossible, but a big ask.

If the game is boring, bland, offensive, inoffensive, isn't ground breaking or fails to catch on, or dies in a short time like RDR2...call time on the AAA industry.

Sony needs to have a proper budget option next gen. We cannot have another gen where the "entry-level" is $400 with no disc drive six years into the lifecycle.

The entire console market is contracting under these prices. Despite Xbox Series imploding and selling way less than the xbone gen, PS5 sales haven't really seen a boost which means the people who fall off Xbox aren't converting into Sony customers but going elsewhere entirely. Maybe it's Switch or maybe it's out of gaming or maybe it's to PC (which is still actually incredibly affordable as long as you're willing to stick to 1080p), but the point is that the sales for the damn thing aren't where they should be.

That's why the specs of the PS6 have me confused. 30 GB of RAM? TSMC N3? RDNA5? And you want all that in 2027? That shit is going to fall into the same trap as the PS5 and be impossible to cost reduce enough to grow the market.

It's funny because the main appeal of GTA for me wore off after I graduated middle school. I find it hard to believe so many people will want to play the Torta Simulator. Then there's the fact that new graphically demanding games already look like shit on the PS5.

In all these years I never touched the GTA online modes so I'm not exactly thrilled at the idea of spastics still playing the game in 2050 on role play servers.

The console industry needs to suck it up and stop competing with PC. The PS360 gen was an anomoly because of the introduction of mutli-core GPU's hitting the console cycle first.

A console should be cheap, easy to use and have fun games. PC is where the elite versions of games should be played and where the technology of those games should be pushed, just how it used to be it.

The console manufacturers have gotten so greedy that they believe that they can force customers into choosing a console over a PC, instead of choosing a console and a PC. Those customers are now choosing PC as their single source and the Steamxbox could upset the market further.

For me the appeal is the wanton destruction. No holds barred fun of rolling tanks and military helicopters down a street and mowing everything down with miniguns and rocket launchers.

If I can't go on to Miami beach with a machine gun, if I can't mow down a pride parade with a tank and if, for whatever reason, the games makes anything invincible because of society or politics, then GTA is dead to me.

In other words you want a NES/SNES instead a of a gimped PC. I think the market does as well.

Are they seriously trying another handheld? Wasn't the Vita like a Zune tier flop that only sold like 800k units or some shit?

The rumours say they are. I can't see how they can with the lack of library that they have. Unless it will be announced this year and the latest SOP was a launch line-up sneak peak.
Wow Sony is even more retarded than I thought. Maybe they'll do a retard fusion dance and bundle the new ultra woke Horizon looter shooter with the new handheld no one wants or cares about.

gee, it sure is a good thing that there isn't a ground-up remake of the original Rayman that has a bunch of QoL features that you can download for completely free or anything -

Oh.
I've been playing this for a few days and it's actually really nice.

Only downside is the enemies from the art world (the ones that ride the frying pan and appear on the pirate ship) are censored. The heads don't use the big-lips and are just generic-looking because I guess racism or something? (only thing i can guess, although I don't know why some characters having big lips is ok but others aren't) Big Mama is unaffected though.

Apparently it is going to be a cut down PS6 that will play and share the same library as the proper PS6, no library split with its console counterpart as it was with the Vita/PS4. Backwards compatibility is probably also a feature so digital PSN games will work on it out of the gate. The PS Portal sold beyond expectations, perhaps that has convinced them to try again since handheld gaming in general is a very popular trend now.
