Note that only applies to games for which "upgraded editions" aren't being sold. They're still double-dipping on quite a few titles.
It also applies to any game that got the free switch 2 related patches or relies on gyro/motion controls too much or was already locked to one mode or the other, or some unexplainable reason, hense why I said almost.

Give them this, at least they didn't throw a choice to use an AI sloppa filter and leave it at that, unlike Sony, or Nvidia (the company they are partnering with to make the damn switch 2s)

Stopping by to say, thank God Bluepoint’s plans for a Jak & Daxter remake did not go through. PS2 bros, we dodged a “Nintendo Hire This Man” Unity sized bullet.

Also, even though it is older news, thank god Bloober team is not remaking Rule of Rose. It was heavily speculated for a hot minute at the beginning of this year. Glad the rose image was for a new IP as I would not want to see modern Sony tackle the controversy behemoth that was the original.

Talk about completely pointless remake projects. Anyone who wants to play Jak and Daxter can simply load it on an emulator or if they want to go the extra mile can use OpenGOAL.

As for Rule of Rose, literally who is asking for a remake of this game of all things? Not only it is a title for an incredibly niche audience it is obscure within the genre itself, no one in the gaming development space right now would be faithful to the themes of the original. It is one of those titles collectors obsess about because of its rarity and weirdness but for that same token almost nobody played it so there would hardly be any demand for a remake. Anyone who is even remotely interested to experience it could, again. load it up on PCSX2 and just play it.

..or god forbid you want to play the hd ports on a ps3 or ps4/ps5.

Bloober Team posted this image, which got speculation circulating:

Given they are doing Silent Hill, the inspiration for Rule of Rose, it wasn't that farfetched I suppose...

As for the audience, it gained cult status on YouTube somewhere in 2022/2023 alongside all the other PS2 horror titles. It is usually part of some trifecta of PS2 Girl-Horror alongside Haunting Grounds and I think Clock Tower 3?

I decided to try and play it in 2024. Didn't feel like the gameplay was as bad as people make it out to be, but it still needs some significant work, which is why a remake would be wanted. It is a game that got everything right, but the game part.

Now as for a remake, I have no idea how the hell anyone would do it. Disregarding woke culture, the original title got banned in Europe, so changes are inevitable even outside the culture war. This is one of the main reasons why no one played it, yet also what made it so notable.

Another Sony dev is going down, will there be any left by the end of this gen? Hermen is on a rampage and nobody is safe.

RIP, Blundell doesn't deserve all the bad luck he's been having. He did right by me as far as Call of Duty/Zombies go, here is to hoping everything will turn out well for him.

Funny, didn't Soyny just win the console wars, with Xbox basically giving up? I know they got Nintendo to contend with, but as far as "hardcore" consoles go, they have nobody to compete with them anymore. Why the layoffs if everything is going so well? Surely, Marathon will prove that Bungie can keep their worth and so will those other live service games Soyny has lined up, right?

You answered your own question. They're the only horse in town, why try anymore?
This is why Microsoft joining the industry with the Og Xbox and Xbox 360 was great for the gamer because Sony did and planned to do fuck all after Sega bowed out.
Because PC still exists? You won't get those exclusives by firing your own people, buddy. Only so much revenue you can make from the FIFA/NBA people and the dwindling COD fans, about the only mainstream audience left for the PS5 today not counting the odd "big" AAA release(not an exclusive so a lion's share of revenue is taken by Valve on Steam).

In general the PS2 is still one of my all time favorite console because it is a treasure trove of horror titles, there were just so many high quality titles that it makes the console and that era the golden age for the genre.

he original title got banned in Europe

It was banned just in the UK because of some unfounded moral outrage, the game did see a release in continental Europe.

You're not taking into account that Sony are absolutely fucking retarded. They think they can sit and do nothing and have the normiecattle throw money at them.

Well yeah, it's a given that they're retarded, but that won't stop them from going bankrupt at this rate. Only DSP can do that and he runs a max LCK build.

Rumor's floating around about a pretty steep ps5 price hike in europe. Anyone who genuinely thinks the ps6 is gonna be under $800 is actually insane at this point.

Anyone who would actually buy one should be locked up.
They will be locked up in an ecosystem where they can only play the following games:

Last of Us part 1 part 4

Last of Us part 2 part 3

Horizon Zero Forbidden Dawn of the West (muffin face remastered edition)

Returnal 3 - the Return of AIDS

The Wolverine: Rise of Gender

Fairgame$

Goddess of Wohr

Starfield

I think the PS5 might be the last console i've bought. I don't see the point of getting a PS6 at all.
I’ve said it before, my PS5 is essentially just a Genshin box, and that’s only because I started playing that game on my PS4 and am apparently trapped in the Playstation version (unless I contact Genshin Support, but 50/50 how that goes)

The fact a Free to Play game has far and away the most playtime I’ve put in on the PS5 is damning.
