Their playbook is as used up as it is predictable, and everyone has already seen it play out so many times that no abuse thrown our way sticks.
its even funnier when i would have bought the control sequel full price if jessie stayed the main character and now im iffy in playing as the brother. and i fucking despise remedy lmao.

do you recommend it? I've been on the fence about playing it
I do think it's a good game, but your enjoyment of the game will depend entirely on whether the combat system clicks with you or not - other than your primary weapon, all other weapons and hacks are pickups, meant to be used and discarded, and the whole thing is built around hacking enemies to make them vulnerable.

It's also a very linear experience, and while the game does encourage you to revisit previous levels to open up paths with new abilities you gained, it's not anything too involved.

That being said, it's a very focused experience with very little fluff - you do some light platforming and navigation to move onto the next combat encounter, complete it, attain currency or unlock new weapons or hacks, rinse and repeat.

I did enjoy my time playing it, and it stayed fresh throughout, and both the protagonist and Diana are likeable characters.

Much like with Dad of War, I liked the premise of Control, even though it is derivate as fuck, more than the execution of it. The Oldest House is a cool concept and location, but it feels incredibly underused in terms of gameplay.

Jesse as a character is okay, if bland, though she looks hideous, and while the gameplay loop is engaging, it's too simplistic to keep the game going, especially since the game drags on and on, and late game your weapons do so little damage you're just throwing things at enemies, since it's the quickest and most reliable way to kill them.

The other powers should have been as fleshed out and useful as Launch. It's also incredibly bizarre that you can skip out on many of the powers entirely, since they're completely optional.

The open world exploration could have been interesting if the map wasn't the single most awful map implementation in any game I have ever played, to the point the game would have been better without it, and if the rewards for exploration weren't just generic crafting components and dogshit mods you're already swimming in thanks to all the combat the game puts you through. Crafting is also fucking annoying, since there's a shitload of different crafting components, with no clear indication what each is for or how rare they may be, and not being able to unlock a weapon because you miss a single doodad and have no idea where to get more of it is beyond infuriating.

They really should have focused on giving you unique mods for all the quests and exploration, that you then can upgrade with crafting, since the few that they do have in the game actually do impact the game significantly (or at least the mod that removes the charge requirement for Pierce did for me).

I think that instead of Laufey they should have made a game following Athena after her demise if we assume she would end up in the same world as faye after death. They could have showed us the shit she did behind the scene during the og trilogy and maybe show that even after death she still keep manipulating kratos or something. Perhaps we get to see her take as she learns/observes the events of the Nu-GoW and such. All culminating in her return or letting go of the grudge of being killed accidentally by kratos.

I feel Laufey was made to insert kratos wife into the mix when the obvious move should have been playing as Freya.

I think the most ideal move they could have made is to wait and announce Laufey alongside the next Kratos game. People tend to get antsy when things suddenly change and a completely different protagonist after 20+ years is a big move, even if they've basically already confirmed that the next game will indeed star Kratos.

God of war: feat. unattractive middle aged woman and a talking blue cube.

The only important question here is:
Will this help sales or will it hurt sales.

I hope Sony Japan has already been on the phone with SantaMonica asking them what then hell they are doing.. Sony can not really afford to continue making mistakes like this.

(I got a visceral reaction to that fucking talking blue cube. I fucking bet it is going to make silly and quirky ironic comments all the time too. Fucking millennial writing. I don't care if it turns out to be the best game ever, I refuse to play a game with a retard blue jello cube making millenial jokes all the time)

nal is the mother of loki, not kratos wife who doesnt exists.
Nal is another name for Laufey.

From Wikipedia:

Laufey or Nál is a figure in Norse mythology and the mother of Loki. The latter is frequently mentioned by the matronymic Loki Laufeyjarson ('son of Laufey') in the Poetic Edda, rather than the expected traditional patronymic Loki Fárbautason ('son of Fárbauti'), in a mythology where kinship is usually reckoned through male ancestry.

From the Google AI:

In Norse mythology, Loki's mother is the jötunn (giantess) Laufey. She is sometimes also called Nál (meaning "needle," likely a reference to a slender and delicate appearance).
Her name means "leafy isle" or "tree island," and she is often associated with foliage. In traditional myths, Loki is usually known by the matronymic Laufeyson (son of Laufey) rather than after his father, Fárbauti. This highlights her importance, as tracing lineage through the mother was very unusual in Norse tradition.

Basic research helps.

One can only hope that Sony Japan steps back in and takes control over PlayStation. Moving PlayStation HQ to California remains the biggest mistake Sony has made, clearly the people in charge of this division need Tard Wrangling.
