Sony is in the process of acquiring FromSoftware, according to insiders - It was nice while it lasted, fellas

Can't wait for $10 cosmetic packs and troons.
They made a game around furries and troons already. Horrors given flesh is what most of the enemies resemble.

This is a wait and see because after bungie they are hinting at like 5-6 other acquisitions. Analysts already predicted that this year would have a record number of buyouts and shit, so it's going exactly as planned. If it's Fromsoft that means the talks would have been done before the release of Elden Ring.

Somehow I knew From staying somewhat based was too good to last. There goes any hope of the alleged Armored Core 6 releasing on PC.
They just dumped a bunch of money into Epic. You'll probably be able to purchase some shit on the epic store.

I don't know why everyone's concerned about MTXs, Sony's first party titles barring GT7 don't really have microtransactions.

Forbidden West had preorder bonuses but Fromsoft has been doing this since DS2.

imagine still blindly trusting "insider leak" rumors as well as the media that jumps on those rumors for easy clicks
I was surprised nobody already made an archive of the "insider" twitter posts in case he were to delete them later

Isn’t Fromself already owned by Kadokawa? Sony doesn’t have Microsoft money and they’d have to make a hell of an offer, sspecially after Elden Ring getting Skyrim-tier money coming in.
Sony and Microsoft both have money that could theoretically do that. Any deal would have been done before Elden Ring would have released.

I mean it'd be fine if they leave Fromsoft the fuck alone. I'm one of the two people on the entire planet who owns a PS5 so I'd be set for a generation I guess, and it increases the chances of getting a 60FPS Bloodborne release at least. I do worry, though, Sony is a fucking shitshow.
Sony's buyouts tend to still leave the studios with creative freedom.

Insomniac is a recent example of this. Even Sucker Punch is looking to bring back Sly Cooper.

Your badly overestimating the resources Sony can throw around at any given time compared to Microsoft, and probably aren’t a big enough a weeb to understand how big Kadokawa is. I don’t want to put my foot in my mouth and say it isn’t happening, but I also can’t really imagine the number of dicks that’d need to be sucked to get one of Japan’s bigger media pubishers to divest from that storied of a developer.

Ah for fucks sake. Although, I do have Elden Ring, maybe I won't ever need a new FromSoft game in that case.
The game really isn't that large, I did all the extra bosses and dungeons. The multiple two stage dragon fights are just a pain in the ass because they fly off at half health and then you have to go to a different location to finish them.

Considering all the purchases the parent company has done they clearly have money stashed away. Yes Kadokawa is big, but they're not looking to purchase Kadokawa. They're just looking to buy Fromsoft. Sony has literally all the fucking anime music ever made and a shitload of global distribution rights that can be used as leverage for future projects. Crunchyroll itself is now the dominant streaming platform just for anime after the merger.

To get Crunchyroll in the first place which was a multibillion dollar deal, they had to give the TV rights to stuff like TLOU to Warner Media for HBO Max. It's not out of the realms of possibility considering all their assets that something similar couldn't be done again.

As long as your definition of creative freedom lines up with the CCP's. They're now the strictest platform owner, to the point where their target audience is now 300lbs ladies with hair colors resembling venomous snakes

That's doubtful because it's always been directly compared to Microsoft.

Microsoft has always been overly strict since the mid 90's when they started removing developer jokes from Windows 95.

Sheesh. Way to spoil my meal. Terrible news if true, but corporate mergers seem to be the way of things for the foreseeable future.
Got to act now if the World Economic Forum is to meet it's 2030 goal.

I'm joking, but it does seem like woke companies are trying to consolidate as their empire falls apart, perhaps in a futile attempt to lock out the competition.

Good, Sony can have them. The PS needs more games of their variety.
You have it backwards. Sony are called Soyny for a reason. They'll buy the company and have them churning out generic third person action games with a "strong female protagonist" that is a troon, where you find collectables and the game is impossible to lose to pander to Twitter and game journos. They'll force out anyone who doesn't tow the party line, assuming they don't quit.

In ten years well get articles and forum posts opinioning about how FromSoftware has fallen, the same way Naughty Dog, Rare, and Bioware are today. Their downfall will be blamed on "being to esoteric", "unable to keep up with the times", or even "FromSoftware was never any good without Miyazaki" rather than admit the obvious everybody can see now.
