Even though I have mostly negative opinions on TNO I think this is still a banger of an opening.

The soundtrack for the 1977 film, Sorcerer, made by Tangerine Dream. The movie itself was directed by William Friedkin, (The same guy who made the first Exorcist movie.) and is about four expatriate criminals who are hiding in a South American third world hellhole and are desperate enough to drive two trucks full of explosives across bad roads, jungle terrain, and hostile revolutionaries to make enough money to be able to leave the poverty-stricken town.

Anyway, Tangerine Dream is a German instrumental electronic band from the 1970's, and they have done an excellent job with the music of this underrated movie. The best tracks on here are probably the hellish-sounding "Main Title" track, the pessimistic "Search", and the paranoia-inducing "Rain Forest".

I tend to listen to piano renditions. Final Fantasy piano collections are great, FFX-2 and FFXII are my favorites.

Though, when it comes to game soundtracks, nothing beats Journey.

I tried this game at a friends house when I was in middle school on his PS1, and got hooked onto it ever since. Immediately got the Saturn version at the K-Mart near my house at the time when that was still a thing in my area. Soundtrack for both versions is mostly the same with the exception of the last 3 tracks (Transvaal, Afro-Ride, & PETROL on the PS1 is replaced by Brickbat, Poison, and Planet 9 in the Saturn version). It's one of the few video game OST in where I'm in love with almost every song (i.e. everything made by CoLD SToRAGE + Poison... I can do without the other ones)

Speaking of CS, he has his own website which used to have all of his shit available free for download, but he stuck everything on his Bandcamp along with some other sites as well. Dude is actually one of my inspirations, as he also dicked around with Music2000 (A.K.A. MTV Music Generator) on the PS1 and made some really cool stuff. MTVMG was the first music making program I ever used, and I always wanted to do similar stuff to what he did.

David Wise was a motherfucking beast.
The entire OST of Super Battletoads for Arcade is a motherfucking banger near each track. Sadly was the same game who destroyed the franchise.
And this is probably the peak of the OST:

Fantastic game, this song always got stuck in my head.

The one with the motorcycle noise

I love the dark ambient music in the first 2 fallouts. So evocative and representative of the world. I swear they used some of the same tracks in New Vegas. Also has a motorcycle noise coincidentally.

Valve made a fictional band that's better than a lot of real bands.

Jak II was probably my most favorite game when I was a little kid and it's probably still within my top 10
