I absolutely hate the Wilhelm Scream in movies.
Yes, I get it, it's a joke.... a joke being told for the last 60 years.
It's not funny anymore, it hasn't been funny since at least Return of the Jedi.

Imagine if a comedian would tell the same damn joke for 60 years, would you still laugh at the joke or just at the comedian?

one time I accidentally reverse engineered that stock SHHHWWWWWSHHHHHSWWWWHSSSHHH churning noise like from before a mobile suit blows up
it's a misthreaded reel-to-reel dragging the tape with a bit of a feedback echo by playing the sound from the mic mixed with the output of said r2r of that signal

I used to watch this guy who was making a crazy HL2 mod with his friends and they all had custom models/sounds for their MP avatars and one of them had the loud nigra scream as his death noise. that shit still makes me laugh

(yes that is jimbomcb of nope.avi fame)
remember me of that pikmin mod when they changed the president whistle for that loud scream

These types of sounds were used a lot in Flash and Channel Awesome style videos.

I once tried watching a German movie that was dubbed in English. The voice acting was tolerable, but what pulled me out of it was the poor sound choice in a couple light action scenes. A guy gets wrestled to the ground, but the sound effects sounded weak and fake. They had completely muted everything when dubbing, likely because there weren't separate mics/tracks for audio vs dialogue (unlike anime, cartoons, or high production films). At this point, I'd rather just watch a sub version.

Also, here are some fart sounds because we have the sense of humor of six-year-olds.

Rocko's Modern Life has the best sound effects of any cartoon ever.

I swear, the sound effects alone from that cartoon have still impacted me to this day. I still screech to a halt whenever I run, for example.

Don't underestimate the power of sound.

This is one of my favorite videos on the fact, from another film I love where sound played a huge role:
