I posted the recipe in the recipe thread, but taco soup is supreme soup. So many veggies, delicious.

...barring that, there was once this truffle/brown mushroom soup I had at this restaurant as part of a fall seasonal menu. It was so delicious, it was earthy and creamy and amazing, but they've never had it again, and I weep for the soup I have never been able to recreate or find.

Tomato soup and grilled cheese is the ultimate winter comfort food.
On my birthday, we went to a diner for lunch and I had grilled cheese with lentil soup. It works just as well.

I eat this soup called "macaroni and tomatoes", sounds bland and boring until you give it a go.

The recipe my family uses:
(1-2 servings)
* 1 Canned tomatoes (Crush the tomatoes for more soup!)
* Small can of tomato sauce (IF NECESSARY)
* 1/2 tsp Bacon grease
* 1cup Shelled/Elbow macaroni

Also if you hate tomato soup, don't worry, tastes nothing like it!

Potato soup with herbs, sourcream, and cheese.
-I need to make some again when I can afford the heavy cream needed to make a large pot.

@Todesfurcht
My family actually eats a less soupy and bacon-less version of that, with parsley and a little thyme. It's a-fucking-mazing for something so simple, I may have to try the recipe you posted.

Hm, if that works well with fresh tomatoes, I might tell my dad (the one who cooks the best among us) to try it. It looks and sounds delicious.

I knew several white trash families that put ketchup in chicken noodle soup

Can't stand the smell of ketchup. It makes me gag. It ruins everything it touches.

My grandmother made a vegetable soup no one can replicate. She didn't write stuff down either. I don't think I have the skill to do it right.

Usually when I want soup I cook vegetables with bouillon and add rice and some spices. At least it doesn't take long.

I also like miso and black bean soup with tortilla chips.

'Everlasting soup', the stuff of first leaving home and having very little money to live on (insert obligatory shrieking about Thatcher here).

1 cup of mixed pulses/'broth mix'
2 oxo cubes
1 teaspoon Marmite
1 teaspoon mixed herbs

Chuck everything but half a teaspoon of the herb in a pan of water and simmer for a few hours. Stir in the remaining herbs about 20 mins before serving. Whatever's left over in the pan gets boiled up again with more pulses/oxo/any other leftovers (sausage, veggies, next door's cat etc) until either oblivion or food poisoning sets in.

You'll be living on toast and rice krispies in no time.

Chili is great too.

I found this Thai-style chicken soup from one of the canned soup brands from the supermarket. Had a nice spicy kick to it so I'll probably get more because that's the good shit.
