why would i thumbnail an image?? you want me to make the image ugly and blurry, just so it takes up a few fewer pixels and then you have to click on it to read the text? i'm not turning a perfectly crisp, readable image into microscopic abomination that needs a magnifying glass to decipher

now that everything's webp it's always got that crust at full size too and it makes me MAD! REEE!!!

Jokes aside that crust does actually piss me off on the full size images more then thumnails. Although thumbnailing also used to not make stuff as blurry as it's done the last few years and it breaks certain gifs entirely now as well. No clue what caused it to start getting that way but it's how it is, I guess. ow ow.
